It's no longer a close call: President Bush was right about the surge. According to Michael O'Hanlon and Jason Campbell of the Brookings Institution, the number of Iraqi war dead was 500 in November of 2008, compared with 3,475 in November of 2006. That same month, 69 Americans died in Iraq; in November 2008, 12 did.

Even without the "16 words"...That Congress would have voted for the Iraq war. It was the violation of the "Condtional Treaty" that moved it.

As we were entering Iraq, I remember Hillary in a Russert interview saying "It IS and has been the policy of the the Democrat Party to remove Saddam. I believe that AT THAT TIME, the Dems and their vote was intended to "set the stage" for a "If it wasn't for us, Iraq would be a brutal regime with the capability of mass destruction".

It’s amazing how all of a sudden we’re seeing Bush praised in the MSM. Probably because Obama won’t change the policies very much, at least in Iraq or Afghanistan. They can afford to be honest now that the Anointed One is about to be anointed.

Don't know and will not know for years. Whether it was the surge are the buying off of the opposition that worked.

It was all sorts of things, howeve we had been buying off people for years and it only worked at the exact same time our strategy changed dramatically that it made a difference.

We don’t need to know for years. We made a significant change in strategy from seek and destroy to counter insurgency. That strategy was built on the fundamentals of clear, hold and build. Only those with no military understanding whatsoever still deny that the Petraeus strategy wasn’t at the center of the remarkable turn around.

We don’t need to know for years.

You have a complete miss-understanding. My we will not know for years, pertains to what happens when we leave. The rest of your statement is pie in the sky. If al-sadar is ruler in 5 years the surge will be a laughing point.

Oh no, the pain of it all! You can’t say that. If you do you’ll give hope to people. We can’t have that kind of real hope spreading. We can only spread misery and suffering and how utterly irredeemable we are! Not this kind of hope, only hope for making us equal at our lowest levels will do.

Paid for by the Ruling Triumvirate. Remember to hail at their passing by.
