Obamas treasury secretary-designate Timothy Geithner, called revelations that he neglected to pay some of his income taxes a hiccup on my road to greatness.
The unpaid taxes stem from Geithners time with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Although the IMF didnt withhold taxes on the portion of his payments identified as self-employment income, it did pay him an additional amount to cover this liability. Geithner did complete and sign the forms needed to obtain this additional money and did, in fact accept payment. He just failed to forward this money to the IRS.
Geithner belittled criticisms of his handling of this matter. Once I was nominated to be treasury secretary and it was discovered that I hadnt paid these taxes, I did eventually pay the money I owed, he explained. You know, Ive never been very good with numbers or the complicated rules and regulations in the tax code. I hope to remedy this with some intense on-the-job training once I take over the Department of the Treasury.
...there are 11 letter and 12 letter words, Carlins’ 5th and 6th for this POS that I can’t say on radio, telly, or FR...
Same circumstances, only the president elect is a Republican, the Rats would be screaming to high heaven about such a corrupt person being considered for SoT. But when it’s a Rat, it’s no big deal. Rats are such hypocrites.
I wonder if the INS will accept ‘hiccup’ as a legitimate reason not to charge me interest and penalties if I forget to pay? naaaa...
INS = IRS
oops
I’m torn with Geitner. On one hand, given the options Geitner is an excellent choice for Treasury. His policy positions are moderated and he not a big taxer. On the other hand, it is absolutely inconceivable that this “tax problem” was anything other than intentional. A first year accounting student would make this mistake. My guess is that he’ll slide and be confirmed. As others have said, if it were a Republican president pick, he would have been tarred and feathered.
Well at least there is no mention that he has a “Wide Stance”.
I wonder if he can add, subtract, multiply, or divide
LOL John. Ya got me. I was reading aloud that first line to my wife, and we both were exclaiming “Oh Gosh another egotistical Democrat freak!”. “Those Democrats are so full of themselves.” Then I glanced up and saw your name as the author, and started laughing.
Yup, ya got me/us LOL.
Whats a little tax evasion among Democrats?? Can anyone spot the media bias in how that is covered?? Could anyone honestly say the media would shrug if a Republican had evaded paying taxes? Then there is Charlie Rangel...
This self-glorifying, tax evading POS actually said that? It is almost unbelievable how these elitist low-lifes are turning the rule of law into a joke in this country, and shamelessly putting themselves above the law, whether in a case like this, or when they want cheap illegal alien labor in plentiful supply.
I’ve never been good with NUMBERS and the tax code....yet he wants to be in CHARGE of the IRS???????? BEAM ME UP!
RUT ROH.....Just saw it was SATIRE!!!???? BEAM ME UP!
We elected a rookie with only negative experience, and not much of that, a man who will be far worse as president than the average citizen from Salt Lake City, Wasilla, Fresno, Dallas, Bar Harbor, or my local day care center. Why would anyone be surprised that The One chose a moron of this level for Treasury? It's time for prayer ... and it wouldn't surprise me if the answer was "no".
I worked at a gas station once can I be secretary of the energy department?
