Dixon, a Democrat, has been the target of a nearly three-year probe by State Prosecutor Robert A. Rohrbaugh into corruption at City Hall, an investigation that has centered on allegations that Dixon has used her office to award lucrative contracts to various people including her sister, her then-boyfriend and her former campaign chairman.

This is where the Commie ‘RATS miscalculated. They ran off all of the Republicans so now, the only politicians left around to indict are all Commie ‘RATS! LOL! Great stuff.

she had recently accepted a raise while furloughing employees, then donated it to charity under fire, making virtuous statements about her altruism

Yes another one. Is there anyone pointing to the corruption in the Democrat party? (hand to ear) Where is the GOP? Maybe I’m just not listening hard enough.

If this was really a three-year investigation, then either MO’M is in trouble too, or he’s the one leading the investigation - to shut her up perhaps? He was mayor 3 years ago.

Even with her crimes, the media try to prop her up in the article:

The investigation has hung over Dixon, a Democrat, even as she became the city's first female mayor and oversaw a significant decrease in the city's homicide rate, reducing killings to a 20-year low. Viewed as an energetic and charismatic leader, she has earned praise from residents for implementing an easy-to-use recycling program and displaying a willingness to tackle the city's systemic racial and economic disparities.

Recycling?!!!

What the $%^& does that mean?

The homicide rate in Baltimore is still horrific - to tout that as a "victory" is lunacy.

displaying a willingness to tackle the city's systemic racial and economic disparities.

WTF??! That sounds like crappola to me.

When innocent white citizens were being beaten by gangs of black youths on city buses, Sheila Dixon didn't make a peep. But when a noose was found at a city fire station, she immediately expressed outrage at the "act of hatred and intimidation". As often happens, it was later uncovered that the noose had been placed in the fire station by an angry black person. The fire department union charged that Dixon's initial reaction contributed to racial tensions, and asked her to apologize, but she refused.

From the article:

One theft charge involves misconduct in December 2007, when Dixon was mayor. According to the indictment, a Baltimore housing employee purchased Toys R Us gift cards to be distributed to underprivileged children during a holiday event. Dixon allegedly gave one of those gift cards to a member of her staff, and five others were discovered at her West Baltimore house when investigators raided it in June. Among other accusations: In 2004, 2005 and 2006, Dixon solicited gift cards - to Target, Best Buy, Old Navy and Circuit City -- from two developers. She then used some of the cards to purchase a PlayStation2 controller, a PlayStation Portable, a Samsung digital camcorder and other items...

I'll bet you a diet coke she plays this almost immediately.

Many wondered today, for example, whether Dixon will appear with president-elect Barack Obama next week when he makes a planned stop in the city.

Help me O-Bombi-Wan Kenobi, you are my only hope!

One test of how serious the charges are against a Democrat and just how damning the case against them is, is just how “fair and balanced” the media becomes in reporting the news. Gone is the automatic assumption of guilt that normally accompanies articles about Republicans who may or may not have broken the law. Instead, all of a sudden, the media remembers that when reporting a story, one should avoid editorializing. That said, it would appear the Sun thinks the case is VERY damning.
