I’m not sure I’ve heard of any anti-Jewish bigots applauding Madoff. Got any examples?
“Paranoia will destroy ya” — The Kinks
A lot of us applaud because quite a few of the people who got scammed are high-rolling sophisticates, who should have known better had they done their due diligence.
These are the same people who claim a lot of us are uneducated or uncultured hicks because we don’t see the world in through the same nuanced lenses they do. They have the temerity to claim hunting is eveil when sportsmen and women have provided over $700 million to conservation effort just last year alone. Like a lot in life, they apparently were reading the Cliff’s Notes on investing.
Seeing a worthwhile charity or a learning institution that is not heavily endowed lose money gives me no pleasure.
Correction: First sentence, second paragraph, no “in” and in the second sentence, it should be “evil” not “eveil.” Sorry about that.
You are just as bad as the Obamaniods with the racist crap.
Just because I am glad that a lot of left-wing Jewish people lost money doesn’t make me any such thing.
The ACLU is almost wiped out, as are a lot of left-wing Jews.
Jews account for about 2% of our population but account for about 50% OF THE MONEY DEMOCRATS TAKE IN.
So, me being happy this group has less money to help destroy our country doesn’t make me a bigot.
And what gives it a sweeter taste is the fact Madoff is a democrat.
The fact you take joy knowing that people who are Jews lost a large % of their savings is a creepy and border line anti semitic. Many of them didn’t invest with Madoff directly but through other money managers who funneled their money to Madoff. It’s their right if they want to give their money to democrats even if you don’t agree. Just like you have the right to give to whom ever you want.
And just the tone of your post smacks of a deep down hatred you have for Jews. I don’t have a problem with it but don’t try to rationalize it.
Um, it’s pretty well established that this was ‘affinity fraud’, and that Madoff worked his friends and community for $. Not exclusively, by any means. He also worked foreign banks and institutions - a Saudi prince, Banque Populaire, Korean teachers...
But Americans are likely to find the tabloid aspect much more interesting - Mort Zuckerman or the Mets’ owners losing money, ripping off Eli Weisel, taking Palm Beach people’s entire life scandals (though people who put all their eggs in his basket were a touch too greedy for their own good by not diversifying; if it’s too good to be true it probably isn’t). So the fact he preyed on the Jewish community is at the center of the scandal and the tabloid interst; that’s where he went looking for money and those are names or communities that people are familiar with.
I mean, come on, taking ELi Weisel’s charity’s money? What sort of person does that? Of course it’s interesting.
That means less money for Democrats.
They still probably hate Bush more than Madoff.
You are twisted and sick...along with Hildy...or whatever its name is.
You probably also claim that the reason you didn't vote for 0bama, had nothing to do with the color of his skin.
Is it permitted to suggest that a liberal Jewish political-financial network exists?
Or did Madoff just happen to create one by dint of his own efforts?
I sure can cheer the ACLU getting wiped out.
I even hope Planned Parenthood had all their money invested there.
The 50 bln loss to investors seems a little suspicious , how long does it take to count 50 bln and how would they know the exact losses. How many transactions would they have to go through? Madoff ruined many lives but we really don’t know the number. I betting the number is much less
“the unknown fact that ‘most donations by Jews go to non-Jewish causes.’”
The life of a member of my (non-Jewish) family was saved at the City of Hope — long a Jewish philanthropy in the LA area.
As I visited, I looked around the walls of the hospital, and noted all the obviously Jewish names of donors with great appreciation. And I wondered how many Muslims have undertaken such charities for non-Muslims.
Madoff had all the credibility this world has to offer he was Wall Street it does not matter what anyone has to say he is a big time crook.... well it at least appears so for them time being given the accounts his investors are claiming. I do know that in the court of law he is presumed innocent until prove guilty.
Its their right if they want to give their money to democrats even if you dont agree. Just like you have the right to give to whom ever you want.
Yes, and it’s our right to applaud when one lib defrauds other libs. I haven’t observed an anti-jewish bias. In fact most anti-semites are liberals. I wouldn’t care if Madoff were Scotch-Irish and he had ripped off a bunch of Quakers, the point is that the libs will have less money to fund the mid-term elections. I would be even happier if the victims had been liberal Republicans.
Well yes, the network does exist so in one respect, racism is at the heart of this problem and what is going on here is that methinks they protest too much.
If Jews weren’t willing to affinity gravitate to the Jewish money manager instead of looking across the spectrum of available managers and at least dividing their assets among the best performing three...there must be a reason for it. Could it be, perhaps, racism? Is it possible that wealthy Jews wouldn’t give a non-Jewish manager a second look no matter how well he/she runs their fund and how ethical they may be? Is it possible that wealthy Jews would put money with a Jewish manager without doing due dilligence simply because they believe they wouldn’t be done in by a “friend” from the Synagogue or the Right Club?
Both are more than possible and highly probable in this instance. However, the story managers have swooped in from all directions to try to cover up this aspect of the story. In the first 48 hours, they said that Madoff was a “democratic” schemer but we knew better. Anyone familiar with these circles knew that over time, the vast majority of the victims would turn out to be wealthy Jews who, motivated by a base racism, trusted Madoff above non-Jews and ended up getting burned. Now, any mention of any of this is labeled anti-semitism...but the sad truth remains...those who have been burned must look at themselves, each other, their community and at least to some degree come to terms with the fact that “What we have done, to some degree we have done to ourselves.”
