Most of the people in the village are Muslim, and there are between 50 and 70 Christian families. The church is used by Catholics and Protestants, without conflict. When they became aware of the sacrilege, many Muslims went to the church together with the Christians. Now the police are investigating the "suspects" for the crime of blasphemy.

Christians seem to be less concerned about a text, irrespective of what it says, than they are about the message. There may be no more commonly available text than the Bible. Burning one or a hundred or a thousand copies affects its message not at all.
The muslim feeling toward their scurrilous koran is nothing more than idolatry. They riot if someone treats that piece of garbage as it should be treated. Christians seem altogether more secure in their attitude toward their scripture.

We don’t get mad and threaten jihad when they burn Bibles. Burning a Bible has no affect on true Christian faith. We just print more Bibles.
