Crime in Chicago has been in the news lately, but it is nothing new. Historically it dates back over a hundred years. From the tale of the Gray Wolves
http://www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org/pages/540.html
The 1890s Chicago City Council was notorious for corrupt political practices orchestrated by a faction of its aldermen known as the Gray Wolves. So named because they were viewed as preying upon the defenseless public, the Gray Wolves were led by First Ward aldermen Bathhouse John Coughlin and Hinky Dink Mike Kenna, and Johnny Powers of the Nineteenth Ward. These elected officials were not only skilled at trading votes for favors, but once in office they excelled in making municipal decisions to profit themselves financially.
TO the present, it is a compelling historical subject.

Amrish Mahajan raise more than a half million dollars for Gov. Rod Blagojevichs campaigns since 2001...Mahajans ties to Blagojevich run deepincluding hiring the Democratic governors wife last year as a real estate agent on $5.7 million in private land deals
Nadhmi Auchi owns General Mediterranean Holding, a Luxemburg-based conglomerate with ... Mutual Bank, Anita and Amrish Mahajan,
Auchi provided the money for Rezko to buy Obama lot.
A former Illinois bank official, now claiming whistleblower status, says bank officials replaced a loan reappraisal that he prepared for a Chicago property that was purchased by the wife of now-convicted felon Tony Rezko, part of which was later sold to next-door neighbor Barack Obama.
The complaint said the Rezko loan was approved by Mutual Bank President and CEO Amrish Mahajan. (The same, Amrish Mahajan “whose wife is accused of bilking millions from a no-bid state contract.”
Good one

I’m still amazed that I only found out about Rezko’s decades-long relationship with the Black Muslims last week. It showed up in the obituaries of Jabir Herbert Muhammad, the son of Nation of Islam founder Elijah Muhammad of evil memory, whose followers assassinated his rival Malcolm X in 1966.
Jabir’s funeral was quite a success. Both current Nation of Islam boss Louis Farrakhan and The Champ, Muhammad Ali, were in attendance.
Malcolm had converted the young Cassius Clay to Elijah’s race-baiting Islamic heresy in the early 1960s. In 1964, however, Elijah excommunicated the dangerously charismatic Malcolm and installed his own son, Jabir, as Ali’s business manager. The energetic Rezko, who had arrived in Chicago from Syria in 1974, went to work for Jabir in the 1983 and was soon managing the ex-champ’s business affairs.
Rezko, sadly, was unable to make the memorial service because he’s been busy at Chicago’s Metropolitan Correctional Center since his conviction on 16 counts in June.

Red I borrowed you list and added a few....Thought they might have something to add to the CHicago Crime/Obama thread.
Feel free to add/ use/ or other wise distribute any thing you find here.
Most interesting dots connected today:
Amrish Mahajan ( CEO National Bank where Obama got their loans)ties to Blagojevich run deepincluding hiring the Democratic governors wife last year as a real estate agent on $5.7 million in private land deals
and
Nadhmi Auchi owns General Mediterranean Holding, a Luxemburg-based conglomerate with ... Mutual Bank, Anita and Amrish Mahajan,
plus
Nadhmi Auchi provided the money for Rescoe to purchase lot next to Obama.
Also found interesing, but not necessarily criminal:
Jabirs funeral was quite a success. Both current Nation of Islam boss Louis Farrakhan and The Champ, Muhammad Ali, were in attendance.
and
The energetic Rezko, who had arrived in Chicago from Syria in 1974, went to work for Jabir in the 1983 and was soon managing the ex-champs business affairs.

Yes, Patti was probably the agent who looked after the bank interests in the Obama’s loan.

Nadhmi Auchi owns General Mediterranean Holding, a Luxemburg-based conglomerate with investments all over the world in everything from Iraq reconstruction contracts to pharmaceuticals to pizza parlors.
More than two solid months of investigation leads to the conclusion that following the names linked to Riverside Park is the key to understanding Operation Board Games.
Auchi ended up with the grand prize but the new owner can not set foot on the development site in downtown Chicago because he is not allowed in this country.

According to an October 26, 2006, Tribune report, since 2002, Mutual Bank has lent more than $3.4 million to Rezko and his partners in three deals.
In one case the Tribune found, the bank lent $1.32 million to Rezko on several pieces of property that were deeded back and forth between Rezko partners both before and after the loan was secured. Banking experts said such moves raise questions about who owned the property used as collateral for the loan, the Tribune wrote.
Amrish Mahajan is president of the Mutual Bank, which had requests pending before state banking regulators to acquire two out-of-state banks, according to the report.
Amrish donated $10,000 to Blagojevichs campaigns. He also contributed $500 to Obama on December 20, 2003, and gave him another $1,000 on April 14, 2004. Amrish is also a supporter of Mayor Daley, who once appointed him to the Chicago Planning Commission.
The Tribune reported that, Blagojevichs wife earned more than $113,000 in real estate commissions this year through a woman who holds a longstanding, no-bid state contract.
The four deals involving Anita and Amrish Mahajan, account for the only commissions Patricia Blagojevich has earned this year, the Tribune noted.
More “A” names. Looks like Rezko and Co may be singing in the key of “A”...

Axelrod is the key to the Obama crime family. He's kind of a consigiari. He Has all the power, acts undercover and has been able to astroturf his way to the top using Barry boy as his psychophant Manchurian.

Just goggle up Astroturf and Axelrod and see what you get, an entire page of links.
Found this list posted by savvyguy of “Obama’s involvement with radical groups and friends” when doing research. Thought you might want to revisit it.

Thanks. Listing some basic background first from:
http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/dnflash/content/mar2008/db20080314_121054.htm
David Axelrod has long been known for his political magic. Through his AKP&D Message & Media consultancy, the campaign veteran has advised a succession of Democratic candidates since 1985, and he’s now chief strategist for Senator Barack Obama’s bid for President. But on the down low, Axelrod moonlights in the private sector.
From the same address in Chicago’s River North neighborhood, Axelrod operates a second business, ASK Public Strategies, that discreetly plots strategy and advertising campaigns for corporate clients to tilt public opinion their way. He and his partners consider virtually everything about ASK to be top secret, from its client roster and revenue to even the number of its employees. But customers and public records confirm that it has quarterbacked campaigns for the Chicago Children’s Museum, ComEd, Cablevision, and AT&T.
ASK’s predilection for operating in the shadows shows up in its work. On behalf of ComEd and Comcast, the firm helped set up front organizations that were listed as sponsors of public-issue ads. Industry insiders call such practices “Astroturfing,” a reference to manufacturing grassroots support. Alderman Brendan Reilly of the 42nd Ward, who has been battling the Children’s Museum’s relocation plans, describes ASK as “the gold standard in Astroturf organizing. This is an emerging industry, and ASK has made a name for itself in shaping public opinion and manufacturing public support.”
Hmm: Obama, CLinton, Emanuel, Spitzer, Daley, Edwards....He’s been busy!

David Axelrod, a Democratic media strategist and founder of the Chicago-based AKP&D Message & Media, handled Barack Obama’s 2004 U.S. Senate campaign and is currently handling Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign.[1][2]
Axelrod’s former/current client list includes Sens. Obama and Hillary Clinton, U.S. Rep. Rahm Emanuel, New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, and the 2004 presidential election campaign of former Sen. John Edwards.[2]
AX OP ED From:
http://divisionstreet.wordpress.com/tag/david-axelrod/
The Op-Ed is no longer available online, but I have retrieved it from a newspaper database in order to take a look. The abstract:
“A WELL-OILED MACHINE:
A system that works? Political debts contribute to better city services. By David Axelrod, a Democratic political consultant whose clients include Mayor Richard Daley.
Fraudulent acts such as test-rigging are one thing. But if hiring of a qualified worker who comes recommended by a politician is treated as evidence of a criminal act, then [U.S. attorney Patrick Fitzgerald]s approach will ensure that only applicants without political involvement are considered.”
Axelrod wrote the Op-Ed in question just a month after Mayor Richard M. Daleys patronage chief was accused of systematically circumventing a decades-long federal ban on most political hiring by secretly directing top city managers to hire preselected applicants favored by politicians and union officials, as the Tribune reported

EMANUEL, WHO IN THE PAST HAS PURSUED reporters with the ardor of New York’s publicity-loving Sen. Charles Schumer — a legend in the annals of self-promotion — declines to discuss his rapid rise to riches. Nevertheless, in the spirit of Nancy Reagan’s unauthorized biographer Kitty Kelly, I will push on. When Emanuel left the White House in 1998 after five years as a senior adviser, political friends helped him land a job in the new Chicago office of investment-banking house Wasserstein Perella. Emanuel amassed a fortune partly because he was in the right place at the right time. Dresdner Kleinwort bought the business in 2000, and partners like Emanuel shared some of the profits.
He also worked for eight clients on behalf of the firm, and made millions in fees. His most outstanding deal was helping Chicago-based investment bank Goldner Rauner to purchase an alarm company called SecurityLink in December 2000 from SBC Communications, for $479 million. In June 2001, Goldner Rauner sold SecurityLink for $1 billion to Tyco (ticker: TYC), which was then run by Dennis Kozlowski.
