US, UN try to handcuff Israel before Netanyahu is elected

At the urging of the US government, the UN Security Council on Tuesday adopted a resolution declaring peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians “irreversible.”

The resolution makes no room for changing circumstances or non-compliance by the parties involved. It appears to have been passed in response to Israeli prime ministerial frontrunner Benjamin Netanyahu’s stated intention to alter the flow of the peace process as a result of Palestinian non-compliance.

Israel, go your own way. Never put your trust in anything other than God and your own weapons.

Judging by the UN’s record of success, there is no need to worry.

“At the urging of the US government,”

Who in the US Government is urging that the UN take steps that would limit Israel’s options in the future?

The article doesn’t say, but US citizens should know just what is being proposed and by whom.

That’s funny, Mr Ryan Jones even put “irreversible” in quotations but doesn’t tell us who said it. Unless I missed something.

Nearly 1/3 of Israelis want to surrender Judea, Samaria, the eastern half of Jerusalem and the Golan Heights? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised but 33% is staggering. In a country so small that’s a bunch of property to give up and that 33% has to know they’ll be adversely affected by that loss. Of course, they’d probably just move to New York or Tahiti.

Not possible. If Israel acted in such a fashion it'd be like leaning in to a left hook. First round knockout. If they start knuckling under to the UN and the USA with Obama and company sharpening the long knives, they'll be sealing their fate. Naw, the only workable solution for Israel is the same equation that has worked since 1948: PEACE THRU SUPERIOR FIREPOWER.

I was referring to the fact that Switzerland is armed to the TEETH and refuses to do anything with the UN.

Nothing is irreversible.
Not even the character and commitment of the USA.

The UN has no powers over sovereign nations, and if the USA has seen war protests in the past, I can hardly wait until we become islam's surrogate and attack Israel!

Just saying.

The populace is armed to the teeth, but, as a country, Switzerland is on a par with Tanzania.

Great for resisting occupation (its greatest weapon is its geography), but pretty much zero in fighting a conventional war.

They used to have that stance but antigun movements inside the Swiss national infrastructure have been successful in many of the nations Cantons to defang the country and force a closer alignment with the UN. I'll see if I can find a link.

The resolution makes no room for changing circumstances or non-compliance by the parties involved.

So even if the so-called Palestinians and their allies launch a full-scale attack on Israel the "peace negotations" must go on! ....at the "urging of the U.S. gov't", no less. Bungling buffoons.

I'm not. The vast majority of Israelis across all levels of society say they want peace. The vast majority of Arabs across all levels of society say they want victory over Israel. So by the Israeli way of thinking, we are driven to try to exchange land for "peace" while our enemies are driven to try to conquer our land.

Our opposition is willfully blind to this & keep speaking to Israelis in terms that sound like eternal war - which turns them off. They need to keep their goals but change their approach.
