The Depression – let’s call it what it is – leaves us, well, depressed. But there is very good news from around the world. Our enemies are collapsing under the strain of dropping oil and gas prices. What we had all hoped conservation and off-shore drilling would achieve, the global economic collapse is accomplishing: the defeat of OPEC, Iran, Chavez, Putin and the weakening of the financial underpinnings of Islamist terrorism. In each of these nations, the hold of the dictator is weakening as, one after the other, they face the consequences of dropping oil prices

There never really was much hope. Just a fool’s hope. Humanity is too insane to last much longer.

“Humanity is too insane to last much longer.”

I don't know about that. We will probably have another big world war though in the not too distant future and I suspect that it will do a real number on humanity. There will be a lot fewer of us around. The U.S. is likely to get hit really hard in a full scale world war. I sure wouldn't want to live in a big city like New York or Los Angeles when the nukes start flying. This country might not survive another world war. People know from the last world war that there is no stopping our war machine unless they take out our manufacturing capabilities and financial centers. In the last world war there was very little in the way of attacks on our own soil and almost all of our casualties were military casualties. Things will be different the next time around. Our enemies will want to take out our ability to make war, take away our military hardware advantage, and they'll want to crush the will of the people by inflicting massive civilian casualties, just as we did to our enemies in the last world war.

Mankind is crazy. Even if most of the people in the world die in the next world war man won't learn a thing from it. We'll be back at it again in no time.

We live in a pretty scary time. I worry about what things will be like for my children. Dang man, why'd you have to get me thinking about stuff like this on a busy Tuesday morning?

It’s going to be horrible for you and your children. Not so for me as I will be dead in the next few weeks. Hopefully.
