The Depression – let’s call it what it is – leaves us, well, depressed. But there is very good news from around the world. Our enemies are collapsing under the strain of dropping oil and gas prices. What we had all hoped conservation and off-shore drilling would achieve, the global economic collapse is accomplishing: the defeat of OPEC, Iran, Chavez, Putin and the weakening of the financial underpinnings of Islamist terrorism. In each of these nations, the hold of the dictator is weakening as, one after the other, they face the consequences of dropping oil prices

Geez! Nothing to celebrate.

This collapse creates conditions on which World Wars are fought.

We are in far greater danger today than 6 months ago.

If this trend continues, they’ll have to settle with wife beatings.

We’re overdue for a world war. Need at least one major war for every second generation. That’s how it goes.

They haven't been dropping this last week. I suspect prices are turning around as marginal wells are shut down. It won't take OPEC to coordinate this. When prices get this low, it just makes sense to wait for them to improve, even if it takes a year or two.

Would you rather own a $50,000 two year US note right now or a 1000 barrels of West Texas Intermediate? Sounds like a no-brainer to me!

Yeah, but I wasn't born for WWII and I'm too old for this one. It just ain't fair!

It is time to thin the flock. Now if we could arrange to group the libs into their
very own little armies. They'd make great decoys, all dressed up in pink lace.

Russians are already frantically spending their ruples or are converting them to US dollars.

Russia will go down...again.

Well, if there was one silver lining in a very dark financial cloud, that would have to be it. Our enemies are probably suffering worse.... LOL.. (at least I hope so...).

But, I’m not sure about that collapse of OPEC that the article is talking about. I don’t think that’s going to happen. And I don’t look for oil prices to stay extremely low for very long. So, this joy in our enemy’s suffering... may be somewhat short-lived...

Ah...nothing better than a ‘glass half-full’ story to warm the cockles on a raw, damp December morning!

With all the worlds economies tanking the demand for oil will decrease. How will the oil producers fix that? The only thing I can think of is war and Putin seems to be the most likely character. He is already trying to destabilize the situation.

the sad thing about all this is, its a race to see who collapse first. US is heading to collapse as well

Good point but our climb off the bottom should be easier than any of the others. Lots of people hate us for our success and wanted us to fail. Like it or not The US is still the engine that drives the other economies. Unless you are contemplating a complete US collapse with civil upheaval. I shudder to think about that.

I like it. If nothing else, it will greatly speed-up events that would have taken years or decades. Great opportunities for us to pick-up the pieces after the communist tyranies collapse.

The Russian armed forces, aside from their nukes, has collapsed. Their Navy is down to about 25 ships that can actually go to sea for longer than two weeks. Putin cannot wage a war against any strong nation and win conventionally.

I tried to make the same political argument a year ago regarding the demise of the newly wealthy oil exporting countries, especially Chavez. I was shouted down by the “peak oil” crowd that swore that $200 oil would be here by Christmas.

“We’re overdue for a world war. Need at least one major war for every second generation. That’s how it goes.”

The last world war we were in we were the only ones with nukes, which we didn’t get till the end. Now there are nuclear weapons and all sorts of other really bad stuff throughout the world. If we continue to have a major world war every second generation, our future is looking pretty bleak.

My thought exactly. Economies in collapse create panicky dictators. Not a pretty picture.
