FROM ‘RECKLESS’ TO ‘PROUD,’ IRAQIS RESPOND TO SHOE-HURL

BAGHDAD – Many Iraqis were surprised when an Iraqi reporter hurled his shoes at President George W. Bush during a press conference with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Sunday. While some Iraqis were shocked, others said the shoe-throwing was an act of valor. But in general, many Iraqis believe that the insult directed towards Bush has really reflected badly on them – particularly because of their long history of traditions and customs that focus on respecting the guest – even if that guest is considered an "enemy."

Well the incident reflects the charactor of the thrower.

They’re Muslims. What the hell did you expect! Better if we’d left this POS to throw a shoe at Saddam!

Saddam, Moqtada al Sadr or any number of thugs who Bush as kept from running Iraq would have had that guy and his entire family chopped into little bits and fed to goats faster than you can say Allah Akbar.

Is anyone surprised this guy is a journalist? He displays the same childish attitudes as American Libs.

Levin is saying that it is reported this dweeb is a former Bathist, recently converted to Satar(sp) since Saddam got thrown out....not really a ‘journalist’.

I heard that he was an Egyptian, not Iraqi.

“Well the incident reflects the charactor of the thrower.”

It also shows that he throws shoes like Jon Carry throws a football. It would only be fitting that he stand at the same distance and let Pres. Bush return the shoes (then we can see his moves).

Ha ha! That's exactly what I was thinking. It reminded me of one of those Kung Fu movies where, no matter what they throw at the hero, he manages to dodge everything. I was waiting for Bush to do one of those moves where you lean back so far your body is almost parallel to the ground! W was absolutely fantastic.
Of course there some great quotes in this story, as well. I particularly enjoyed this one.
But Salam Jabar, a 48-year-old journalist, defended the act of a fellow newsman. "We are proud of what the correspondent did when he sent two Iraqi missiles from his feet to the head of dirty Bush…History will record this act with gold."
Iraqi missiles? I mean, this sounds like something from Saturday Night Live!

If this guy had tried this with Saddam, he’d have ended up in a meat grinder, and ultimately as someone’s sausage dinner. Plus, his wife and daughters would’ve become Uday and Qusay’s sex slaves.

Ask any Iraqi what would have happened if someone had thrown a shoe at Saddam?

My thinking: these "proud" Iraqis are those that sit on their a$$es all day sipping strong coffee and hearding camels/goats/whatever.

They need to get off their tails and build their country up instead of being a bunch of lazy S.O.B.s. sucking off the U.S.A.'s efforts.

The shoe thrower was auditioning for a job with the NY Slimes. He may get it as he managed to stand out from the crowd. Hating Bush and hating America would be the two best qualifications to work there.

Isn’t it amazing how 10,000 people can be politely clapping, but the single embarrassing malcontent becomes the focus of the entire US mass media?

Why should that surprise you considering the entire US mass media is a collective of embarrassing malcontents?
