Sarah Palin helped push the Republican Party farther to the right this election a polarization which could lead to the downfall of the party, insists Colin Powell.
Oh, and he also says Republicans should stop listening to conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh and we need to rethink the militarys dont ask, dont tell policy.
Gov. Palin, to some extent, pushed the party more to the right, and I think she had something of a polarizing effect when she talked about how small-town values are good, Powell told CNN in an interview that will air Sunday. Well, most of us dont live in small towns. And I was raised in the South Bronx, and theres nothing wrong with my value system from the South Bronx.
He adds: It was that attempt by the party to use polarization for political advantage that I think backfired.
If the GOP doesnt wake up and realize the far-right wing cant carry the rest of the party, Powell who created shockwaves throughout the political establishment when he endorsed Barack Obama for president, albeit, late in the game thinks they could become obsolete.
Theres nothing wrong with being conservative but if the party wants to have a future in this country, it has to face some realities, like it has to woo blacks and Hispanics, who are quickly becoming the majority in this country.
I think the Republican Party needs to stop shouting at the world and the country
the party has to take a hard look at itself.
I may have missed it, has someone appointed Powell King? or Dear Leader?
Dayam, Colon must be taking VIAGRA!!
Bowell is a bleep.
“Gov. Palin, to some extent, pushed the party more to the right”
Good!
Rush just ground him into hamburger. Memo to the General. Buy a dog. You’ll need a friend.
I’ve lost what very little respect I had left for Powell. The democrats were right he’s not black enough he’s just a yellow dog coward.
...and why does his opinion matter? He does indirectly point out that the Republican Party has parted ways with traditional conservative principles, but nothing new there....
Powell isn’t a Republican leader. He endorsed Obama over simply staying silent.
Powell can eat my poop.
Colin, descending
Mr Secretary...may I suggest that you check out what Bill Cosby's been saying about *today's* value system in the South Bronx (and other places)?
You “own it” Powell.
When Obama screws up, and he’ll screw up, you will have to take credit for supporting him.
Powell’s Republican? I had no idea!
Go Sarah!
Did Colin remember to "Call in gay" on Wednesday? He is such a wussy. I never have liked that guy. He is not a Republican or a Democrat; he is a political opportunist and I hope Rush gives Powell steady neglect over this provocative attention seeking statement.
Correction.. Powell lashes out at everybody:

Colin Powell can KMA!!!
This RINO political animal should not think he speaks for anyone other than his perfumed, comfortable in retirement, moderate (blecch!) self!
Puck Fowell!
This from a “Republican” that endorsed a Democrat. Based on the merits of the candidates, of course. How dare you think otherwise. Racist.
The aptly named Colin Powell had his chance to be the first EEO president. He blew it and now he can STFU.
