ABC News is reporting that Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. is "Senate Candidate No. 5" mentioned in the FBI Affidavit unveiled yesterday against Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. In the video above, Jackson was interviewed today by ABC News and denied as an "impossibility" that he, or anyone on his behalf, offered money to Blagojevich in order to be named the next U.S. Senator from Illinois . . . . . If they can throw Scooter Libby in jail for just looking crossed-eyed on a trumped original charge, then they will certainly do the same for JJJ on a real corruption charge.

JJJ’s atty just said that JJJ got a call the night before the arrest to tell them about the arrest and that JJJ is NOT a TARGET???? WHY the HELL would the Feds call JJJ to tell him this??

The Feds probably called JJJ to let him know they were going to take down Blajo and that JJJ was on the wiretap.
They probably offered him an opportunity to come in and “come to Jesus.” If he cooporates, he’ll end up as an unidicted co-conspirator. If he plays hard-ball, they’ll bust his chops.
Having worked with Federal task forces and US Attorneys in the past, this kind of gamesmanship is almost SOP. Turn someone on the fringe for a bigger fish. You can bet shredders in Crook County offices are working overtime tonight.

I really do have a funny feeling about all this. I think even if the Fed’s want to keep Obama out of trouble it is too late.
I think his name is gonna keep coming up over and over whether they want it to or not.

If memory serves and it has been a few years since I’ve worked with a Federal Task Force, they (the Feds) are required to inform someone who is overheard or possibly mentioned in a wiretap. It is my understanding Jackson was notified the night before Blajo was arrested. The Feds probably knew it wouldn’t take long for people to figure out who #5 was so in order to put pressure on JJJ, they just called and told him. Actually smart move on their part.
If Jackson lawyers up he will look guilty. He sure as hell won’t get any sleep that night and any lawyer will probably tell him to cooporate or he will get swept up in the circus that is now unfolding.
I’ll bet JJJ has already made an appointment to proffer to the US Attorney’s office. He’s a young guy and if he can push this off on an overzealous campaign supporter, he can survive this.
The problem is going to be Obama’s tendency to “shoot from the lip.” He’s already gone on record as saying he’s had no contact with Blajo about the Senate seat, which was contradicted by Axelrod, then denied as Axelrod “mis-spoke.” Now it’s been confirmed by the news media with day, date and location. Obama goes off script and bad things happen to him. I think this is going to be the tip of a very large iceberg.
When I worked with the Task Force, the main thing you did was to get people to commit to something. Get them to say something “on the record.” Then go out and show the inconsistencies in their statements. And it looks like Obama has done just that. In his rush to proclaim his innocence, he forgot to cover his a$$.
Someone told Blajo that JJJ would pony up some dough up-front and make contributions to his (Blajo’s) well-being. JJJ probably knows who the intermediary is. He’s going to be faced with a choice. He can tell the Feds now while he is not an ORIGINAL target or it can come out later and then JJJ WILL become an indicted conspirator.
The Feds are parsing words. The wiretap was obtained in the investigation of Blajo’s corrupt government. He was/is the ORIGINAl target. Anyone else who surfaces can either play ball now or wait for the shoe to drop later.
