According to its sample legislation, manufacturers would be forced to code all ammunition sold in the state. Private citizens and retail outlets would be required to dispose of all non-coded ammunition no later than Jan. 1, 2011.

Each vendor would record the following information about customers who buy the ammunition: Date, name, driver's license or ID number, date of birth and ammunition identifier. The businesses would maintain records for three years from the date of purchase.

The way this thing is written, it would effectively outlaw handloading as any handloaded ammunition wouldn’t be coded and you would have to turn in any such ammunition.

Exactly right.

I see this sort of monkey business as a driver for a revolution or civil war. Bring it on. They will recieve most of the ammo one at a time.

Fat chance.

And you can’t make me.

Why don’t they just make everyone use Jocelyn Elders’ Safer Bullets?

I have read that they will limit powder purchases. I don’t recall the amount, however. It keeps for a looooooooooong time.

Funny thing about powder too....
You buy it at gun shows and no one has to call it in.
Go Figure.
My guess is liberals only know what to do with
white powder. Black powder is, like, politically incorrect or something.
Just thinkin’....

And I’ve heard “I dropped in the lake”, “I sold it to a guy I met in a bar” and “It broke so I threw it away”
excuses don’t cut it with the BATF folks.

Under what circumstances are these apt to be offered to (and rejected by) the BATFE?

Are you talking about FFLs, or regular people?

To your first question...
Under any circumstances that Mr. illigitimate president elect and his Ayers buddies wish to legislate.

To your second question...
I was refering to anyone covered under the 2nd Ammendment.
I believe that covers pretty much everybody vertical and breathing in the USA.

Any more questions?

Only slightly off topic, but I’m starting to get a little concerned about 7.62 x 39 ammo.

I picked up an AK for my son for Christmas. I just checked Aim Surplus and Cheaper Than Dirt and they both seem to be out of it.

Are you guys/gals seeing a shortage of 7.62 x 39 on a local level?

Local dealer has nothing but old Russian soft-point and some NORINCO that's obviously been around a while. This is a caliber that you really have to get while the gettin's good. Violence anywhere in the world leads to a run on it.

Thanks for the reply gundog.

I regularly shoot surplus 7.62 x 54R in my Mosin without any problems (some of it has been manufactured in the late ‘40s and I have never had a failure).

However, I'm sure a semi-auto is gonna be more picky than a bolt action.

I guess I better start checking out the local stores. It would suck to get a new rifle for Christmas and not be able to shoot it because ammo isn't available.
