Soaring costs expected to accompany huge crowds in town for the Jan. 20 inauguration of Barack Obama could stick cash-strapped Washington, D.C., with a record-breaking bill for services. Security and capacity measures recommended by the Districts congressional delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton and others will almost certainly surpass the $15 million the federal government gives to the District each year to defray the cost of events, Norton said.
DC First.
The rest of the Nation next!
You gotta see this: http://www.koaradio.com/pages/rosenfiles.html?feed=119739&article=4607776
I guess they’ll be wanting a bailout.
My bank account is open! Take it! Take it all! My resources are unlimited!
How fitting.
All the panhandlers will have to get real jobs.
I’d like to have the fried poultry concessions for this baby.
Darn.
What a waste of money. Do you know how many amored vests we could send to the troops or how many uninsured children we could give medical care to? What about the homeless veterans that could be helped as well as the other homeless people - Many of which are women and children?
Oops. Sorry those were the arguments against seconds Bush’s inauguration costs. These expenses are OK since it’s about change.
//Sarcasm Button Off.
No problem. I’m sure if Eleanor Holmes Norton asks him, the messiah can take five dollars and two cents and multiply it into twelve basketfuls of cash.
Just more “change.” Si si puede, yes we can, gimme gimme gimme.
Surely they can find a broom closet or alley somehere to do the job with less cost and fuss?
The heart bleeds.
Well, won’t everyone in DC freely contribute their time and talents for The One? A trial run for a Civilian Service Corps involving DC residents, who I’m sure voted overwhelmingly for The One?
As a self-annointed Messiah, Obama wants to bring together the largest crowd in history to celebrate his coronation.
As far as I know, the historical record for the largest crowd ever was set when Pope John Paul II visited the Phillipines. The crowd was estimated by news sources as 4 or 5 million. When the Pope spoke in Ireland, 1/3 of the country turned up, but that was fewer people.
Now the news sources are talking about 4 million coming to see Obama. I think that would be the largest crowd in US history, even if it doesn’t quite equal the number of visitors to JPII’s Phillipine papal Mass.
Talk about night and day. Obama should be on track to beat the largest crowd that Mao assembled in Tienanmen Square.
give them a bail out....sheesh..no brainer...
I’d bet that they bring the Queen of Englands carriage over here and have 12 white horses pulling it. People will be bowing down all over the place and throwing their tax money at him.
Support the Leo Donofrio and Gary Kreep/Keyes lawsuits to help DC save their money. Kreep’s group needs money and needs to follow Leo’s suugestions to amend their suit and go straight to the CA Supreme Court.
The Internet radio shows have Leo and Kreep on but Rush, Savage, Hannity, Ingraham, Beck, Levin and the others are cowards.
