SACRAMENTO, Calif.- A former opponent of Barack Obama's has come back to haunt him over questions regarding Obama's citizenship.

Former presidential candidate Alan Keyes and other members of his American Independent Party have filed suit in California Superior Court in Sacramento to stop the state from giving its electoral votes to President-elect Barack Obama until documentary evidence is provided to prove Obama is indeed a citizen of the United States.

Some conservatives have questioned Obama's citizenship in recent months. Obama says he was born in Hawaii in 1961.

Keyes also ran against Obama as a Republican for the U.S. Senate seat in Illinois in 2004. Obama won that election to serve his first and only term in the U.S. Senate.

According to Wikipedia, there are 7 foreign-born members of Congress

Of course this is not directly related to dual citizenship.

And anyone with an American passport is a citizen. Duh, the media knows that.

If born in Hawaii to a non-citizen and a citizen who had not lived in the U.S. for five years after her 16th birthday he is not a natural born citizen.

You are wrong.

If he was born in America, he is a natural born citizen, even if his parents were illegal aliens that crawled across the border and whelped in the desert. (Not that it should be like that, but it is.)

BECAUSE IT WILL PROVE THAT HE IS NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN AND THAT HE CANNOT BE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!!!!

(Sorry for the All Caps screaming, but this whole thing is becoming maddening when folks can’t see what is so patently obvious)

New elections? Unfortunately, no provision for that in the Constitution. The sad fact is that the Framers and amenders of the Constitution weren’t prescient enough to make any provision for a scienario where some candidate could pull such a hoax on the nation, and fail to disclose that he wasn’t constitutionally eligible to be POTUS.

Yes, blatant judicial misinterpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment's "jurisdiction of the United States" clause.

"If born in Hawaii..."

I'm sorry but the law to which you refer is intended to describe the natural-born status requirements for someone born outside the US. If BO was in fact born in Hawaii he is a US citizen...period! His mother could be a peruvian chicken and his dad a red tractor!

No new elections—if 0 is found ineligible McCain would likely take office, with Biden as VP. The Electors decide this.

Perhaps, perhaps not. If it were established that the Electors were chosen on the basis of fraud (0bama's lack of Constitutional eligibility), that could justify new elections, admittedly a long shot at best.

It’s sad to say that the Supreme Court is our last hope for upholding the constitution in this free republic.
Their track record so far has been exceedingly questionable.
Like the Captain said in “Hunt for Red October”, I personally put our chances at 1 in 3.

1 in 3 isn't great, but it's better than 1 in 10.

New elections? Unfortunately, no provision for that in the Constitution.

The lack of a Constitutional precedent has never stopped the SCOTUS in the past regarding other issues, lol

The sad fact is that the Framers and amenders of the Constitution weren’t prescient enough to make any provision for a scenario where some candidate could pull such a hoax on the nation, and fail to disclose that he wasn’t constitutionally eligible to be POTUS.

It was assumed back then that basic honesty would prevail in such weighty matters. Of course there was no such thing as the Democrat Party when the Constitution was written, or they would have included enough safeguards and countermeasures that it would have forced today's 'Rats to leave the U.S. and sail off to Cuba or some other Communist paradise.

Instead, they managed to con everyone into voting FOR an American Communist 'paradise' this past November 4th.

God help us all.

I will fight to the death for the right of Peruvian chickens and red tractors to have civil partnerships, but that does not address Hussein's unproved provenance--he might have floated over from Kenya in a reed basket, yet submits forged evidence his was a feet-dry birth. A lovely parting gift but not the Oval Office.

The story on the Keyes/Obama suit in CA has saturated the blogosphere for several days, but no “mainstream” media would pick it up.

Yesterday, the NBC affiliate in Augusta, Georgia, finally put the story up, then pulled it down, then put it up again.

They just called me to verify some facts and the gentleman said they’ve had 98,000 hits on the story, more than twice as many as any story they’ve ever run.

Now Drudge has it up.

And AWAY we go!

Maybe...
