Not "Conservative" Enough
Right Side News ^ | November 17, 2008 | JB Williams

Posted on 11/17/2008 2:08:51 PM PST by Kukai

Under the myopic mantra of "not conservative enough," the nation just rejected its best known American hero and real Washington watch-dog and elected the most inexperienced far left freshman member of the U.S. Senate, aka the elitist good ole boy network, as Commander-in-Chief.

Despite the fact that John McCain has a history of being "conservative" on 16 of 20 national issues (80%), according to too many "conservatives," he was not conservative enough to gain their support in the 2008 general election, even after bringing conservative Washington outsider Sarah Palin aboard.

So, "conservatives" put Barack Hussein Obama and leftist Democrats in full control of all branches of the federal government, guaranteeing a free ride over the next four years for the most far left agenda in history. This, they saw as a "conservative" move...

McCain has a long record of being very "conservative" on the following issues...

Abortion (The unalienable right to life) Affirmative Action (The unalienable right to individual liberty) School Prayer (Free religious expression) Death Penalty (The rule of law) Three Strike Sentencing (Firm enforcement) The Second Amendment (Gun rights) Private Health Care (not socialized medicine) Privatizing Social Security (Economic liberty) School Choice (Educational liberty) Drug Enforcement (Tough on crime) Less Punitive Taxation (Economic freedom) Free Trade (Expanding GDP) Local Community Based Welfare Assistance (End of the nanny state) Strengthened Military and National Security (National sovereignty and security) Strengthened Intelligence Operations (Defending America from all enemies) Winning the War on Terror (Keeping Americans safe) Conservatives had an opportunity to "conserve" American principles and values in all of these areas in the 2008 election and they decided not to conserve any of them. Instead, they voted "against" John McCain and put an administration in power which stands on the wrong side of all 16 issues.

McCain strayed from GOP family...

By that reasoning, if the RNC put up a pro abortion married homosexual envirowhackjob and conservatives stayed home....then any loss is because of the conservatives and not the RNC?

BS

In that case, let’s find somebody just like him to run in ‘12. Worked great in ‘96, too, as I recall. What was Bob Dole’s conservative rating?

I had my differences with McCain on immigration and campaign finance “reforms”, but I went and pulled the lever for him anyway. I’m in Tennessee which is safely “red” so I suppose I could have indulged myself in the “protest” of staying home, but couldn’t bring myself to do that.

McCain headed the infamous “gang of 14”, sponsored the infamous “McCain, Fingold” act, Looked into being jon carry’s Vice Pres, and other Democrat actions.

He is actually to the left of some Democrats.

Why should Conservatives fall all over themselves for him?

Yes, but his stance on pertinent issues such as immigration, border security, and the bailout fiasco are in direct conflict to the conservative base.

That’s funny. I seem to remember a bunch of RINOs voting for Obama, but no conservatives. Hell, even McCain told the world that no one has anything to fear from a Marxist Obama presidency.

Dole was even more conservative, but he was also very old. It just doesn’t work anymore. Reagan wouldn’t work again either. People just won’t vote a president that may die or have Alzheimers while in office.

On the contrary, “Conservatives” prevented a total blowout, which was where McCain was headed prior to tapping Palin for VP.

I don’t think you lay the blame entirely on the conservatives not turning out. The ignorant mushy middle voted for change and they are going to get it.

I also think that McCains age was a sticking point for a lot of the mushy middle. 2000 was McCains year and he blew it by back then with those 4 issues.

I really wish he had been President on 9/11. His military record might have been a stumbling block for the worst excesses of the radical left.

Could, would, shoulda. It’s all in the tea leaves.

Horsehockey. After McCain picked Palin, conservatives came out in droves for McCain. But he was doomed as soon as the economy tanked in September. Nothing much more complicated than that.

Which makes all this bleating and finger-pointed all that more absurd...

Quote: “McCain strayed from GOP family values in these four areas... Campaign Finance Reform (First Amendment Rights, but also a serious issue of corruption)”

Oh yeah, that little issue. The one that basically left the dems with a permanent money advantage. Sure did get the money out of politics, Republican money that is. We are supposed to overlook this because it is only one out of 20 issues? Turns out, it ONLY TAKES ONE!!!

Oh, and unless I am missing something I think the article also left out ANWR drilling, voting against the Bush tax cuts and screwing over our judicial nominees. But hey, when you are trying to blame conservatives for this RINO’s defeat, what are a few facts.

McCain stood for nothing but poking his thumb in the eye of conservatives and then basking in the glow of the resulting MSM attention. Even now he is trying his damndest to get back in the good graces of his friends in the MSM.

Never stay home, there are other races on the ballot like the TN house which just elected a Republican majority. And they’ll need your vote in 2 years to keep it.

If this isn't the epidemy of a RINO view I don't know what is. You're either conservative or you're not! John McCain is NOT! McCain didn't deserve to be elected President, and now the GOP/RNC need to be bulldozed over by conservative!

Let's get to it. Nothing less than conservative, will just not do!
