Not sure what to make of this, but No Quarter has a source in Chicago that says that Obama and McCain will meet tomorrow to discuss the Secretary of Defense job.

Yeah, it was out of the ordinary for him, so they were surprised. His natural tendency is to do whatever the leftists want, which would have been Lieberman, Ridge, or Romney.

Actually, I firmly believe that if John McCain had lost the nomination, he’d have been pushing Powell out of the way to get on camera and endorse Obama. It’s just the kind of ‘reach across the aisle’ guy he is. Taking a post in the Obama administration is right up his alley. I actually was mentioning this as a possibility last week and my wife told me I was crazy...lol

I don’t know if they’re really all that different. Both want Gitmo closed. Both call interrogation ‘torture’. They may have disagreed on some minor details, but they’re basically on the same page.

Work’s for me, as it primarily gets McCain out of the Senate, finally!

Didn't Obama accuse (repeatedly over a couple of months) McCain of, and I quote,,,,

"JOHN MCCAIN WANTS A HUNDRED YEAR WAR IN IRAQ"!!!

Now why would Obama want someone as SECDEF who,,,

WANTS A HUNDRED YEAR WAR IN IRAQ? /s

McCain is unqualified to be Secretary of Defense. He is not for defending this country since he favors open borders and wants amnesty for illegal aliens. The greatest threat to this country are the open borders and hordes of illegal aliens who constitute an invasion. The planes on 9/11 did not take off from Iraq but from American soil.

I wouldn’t call the surge a minor detail. The bottom line is Obama would have bugged out of Iraq months ago, while McCain pushed for the surge when public opinion was opposed overwhelmingly.

We’ll see what happens.

But I don’t believe for a minute that Obama will offer McCain Defense (and I don’t think McCain would take it if offered).

Lamer than McLame? He really will disappoint in the senate, but I would love to see the expression on Chuck Hagels smirky face IF this is, in fact, true.

Powell would be eligible to be SecDef now, but the moonbats on the left would howl.

I was just thinking. I think this is a form of, cannot think of the word. When you hire people ( like Biden as VP and possibly Clinton as Sec of State) to show that you are in charge after you have defeated them, you know what I am saying?

Isn't there a word for this? It's like it's a trophy collection.

No.

1)Democrats must get all the blame for everything. No SecDef McCain to scapegoat if we are attached.

2)The Governor of AZ (D) is required to appoint a Republican to replace him but she would of course choose a worse RINO than him.

3)Just no.

Just what we need. [/s] More old senators taking up positions in the administration.

Obama - senator to president.
Biden - senator to vice president.
Clinton - senator to secstate.
McCain - senator to defense.

Well, maybe it isn’t all bad. It may be the only way to get the old codgers out and some new blood in the Senate.

Yep, and don’t think that McCain wouldn’t do it either.

Why not? Mc has wanted to be a dem since 2000.

Obama's favorite movie is The Godfather. I think of this more as keeping your friends close and your enemies closer.

I am sad to say that Obama is proving to be far more shrewd and adept than I thought. The only plus in this is that it MIGHT mean he won’t go too far left because he knows he could lose his shirt in 4 years.

“promoting” both of your rivals out of the Senate where you actually are their boss? Completely diffusing the power base of both, and as noted in the the thread, get a Dem AZ governor to appoint the replacement?

I don’t think McCain will do it, but Obama might play to his patriotism and get McCain to thinking he is the “protector” of the troops when Obama pulls them out and guts the military.

I will say this, at least McCain (or Powell for that matter) would do everything humanly possible to tactically protect the troops, even in retreat. IF Obama pulled us out of Iraq suddenly, at least those two could possibly save American lives.

But that is about the only plus one can see to this.

We are up against an even more difficult foe than I imagined. The Clinton hires were shrewd as well.

Interesting times. The question is, who is the GOP counterpart? I like Jindal, but I don’t know if he is this shrewd strategically. I happen to think an alliance of Newt Gingrich as the background strategery guy and Jindal as the next big thing is the best hope. But who knows?

McCain will cross the aisle to do whatever the Obamagod tells him. Once he sees the lights and cameras, his brain will turn to liberal mush.
