Ombudsman Deborah Howell after giving us lots of statistics showing their bias:
The Post provided a lot of good campaign coverage, but readers have been consistently critical of the lack of probing issues coverage and what they saw as a tilt toward Democrat Barack Obama. My surveys, which ended on Election Day, show that they are right on both counts. ...
Don't worry about it Debby. It's like the mafia hit men say when they whack you "It's nothing personal, just business."
... This is not a mea culpa. It's not an apology. It's an in-your-face "yes we were biased and got our guy elected and would you like a little more salt in that wound?"
In fact, Debby is doing a victory lap, telling us all the wonderful things the Post did during the election. Like a play cast taking a curtain call and asking all the players to come out on stage for the audience's applause.
Take a bow Bill Hamilton, assistant managing editor for politics, and you David Broder, and you Michael Dobbs, the Fact Checker, (wasn't he just great folks?) and that great Howard Kurtz.
Let's bring out the bit players: Williams Thompson, Kevin Merida, Anne Hull, Wil Haygood, and who can forget that Jose Antonio Vargas's pieces about campaigns and the Internet were standouts.

Washington Post: Neener neener neeeeennnnerrrr
WaPo Biased??????
Not NEWS ... LOL
Fantastic! Just wait till the Obama administration tries to reinstate the ‘Fairness Doctrine’. Use this as evidence that the MSM needs to be ‘fair’ as well. Litigation, anyone?
..or how bout Tom Brokaw and Charlie Rose musing together about how they didn’t know anything about the man they promoted for two years last friday night....
Declines in Post advertising and circulation and decreases in the value of smaller newspapers the company owns resulted in third-quarter earnings, reported Friday, being down 86 percent compared with the same period last year.
This is an important admission. All liberal bias must be documented in the defense of free speech. When the fairness doctrine (silence the opposition bill)is up for debate in the house and senate all these admissions must be made public. It is only with the public is fully aware will the first amendment be saved on the airwaves! And perhaps help educated the masses about how liberally bias the other forms of communication truly are.
“resulted in third-quarter earnings, reported Friday, being down 86 percent compared with the same period last year. “
Of course, this news won’t prompt them to consider what they might be doing wrong. No, they are on a mission, a mission to bring about the world they always dreamed of when they were marching on campus and dodging the draft back in the 60’s.
Journalism is dead in America.
Bill Hamilton, assistant managing editor for politics, said, "There are a lot of things I wish we'd been able to do in covering this campaign, but we had to make choices about what we felt we were uniquely able to provide our audiences both in Washington and on the Web. I don't at all discount the importance of issues, but we had a larger purpose, to convey and explain a campaign that our own David Broder described as the most exciting he has ever covered, a narrative that unfolded until the very end.
Broken down...We needed to cover stuff but we willingly chose not to because we had to keep it under wraps so the sheeple wouldn't know the shepherd is really a wolf.
Disgraceful!
I bet you believe the South will rise again too.
My friend less than 10% of the voting public reads a nationally circulated paper one day a week. Less than 50% of the public read a paper of any kind on a weekly basis.
Most men who read a news paper read it primarily for the sports section.
Until the people of this country begin to take a serious interest in being politically educated they will continue to rely totally on TV sound bites and TV political advertising for their political opinions.
Yes the major dailies are biased but they are also preaching to the Choir. If they actually tried to be fair and balanced their circulation would plummet even more quickly.
Is there are conservative national paper around.... or is there no market for a national conservative newspaper?
The WSJ doesn’t even go after that market.
And yet thousands of McCain supporters will continue to buy this newspaper. Senseless.
JoMa
She did the same thing after the Post’s treatment of the Allen-Webb race. Admitted the coverage was biased and that they piled on against Allen. Didn’t change a thing about how campaigns are covered. They seem to think it’s fine to be a wholly owned subsidiary of the DNC as long as you publish a little mea culpa every now and then.
TALK IS CHEAP!
I thought the two Demo Reps from MD had already stated that the Fairness Doctrine could not be imposed because of the Web. And ObawanPresElect is backpeddling and he’s not even ObawanPres yet.
The sympathetic media lapped it up like cats on a bowl of milk (that was warmed up by Bush).
McCain never saw the keys to victory and never understood that your qualifications for President are secondary to your qualifications for candidate.
You must be a superior campaigner, first, last and always.......
And the printed media wonders why their circulation numbers are in the gutter. I wouldn’t line a catbox with their rag.
