The Night The Republican Party Was (Re)Born

The once great GOP of Reagan's era sits in mourning tonight. The party that only yesterday it seems stood for hard work, self reliance, independence from government intervention, God, family and the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness found it's hopes tied to a moderate Democrat dressed in conservative clothing.

Don't blame McCain. He rightfully accepted the opportunity granted him by a media bent on the elimination of Romney, Thompson and Huckabee for a candidate they felt they could control. Too old. Too liberal. Too much like Bush. Too hard to pass up. A Republican whose best friend in Washington was a life-long Democrat who was forced into "Independent" status because he dared stand up for America's Independence.

McCain was little more to the party than Jimmy Carter with a spine and some common sense before he "beat the odds" and won the party nomination. Anyone who would proclaim that three years ago he/she was certain McCain would be the Republican nominee would lie to you about other things as well.

One small problem...

The Republican party is dead. Forget about it.

No rino will ever win. We have had it with rinos.

Scrap the carcas. Bring back the Whigs or something.

The Republican party is gone forever.

Nothing is going to change unless the Republican party purges neo-cons.

Aptly posted without reading the entire article, I see.

You may be right... but we’ve got to start somewhere. The party has been left in a shambles by a strongly conservative base with a leadership that has pulled harder and harder left. You can’t expect anything to stand up under that kind of pressure.

Pray for direction...

One more thing, the idiot who thinks there is another Ronald Reagan in the wings is dreaming. Just look at the field of candidates we had this year.

Dead, dead, dead. Forget it. It’s over and done.

Ha ha ha! Another Reagan. What folly! Just an excuse to sit around another eight years and lose, lose, lose.

Obaman may do away with elections; he is a Marxist, don’t forget.

Get ready for that big hit Biden promised.

Republicans, Bushies, RIP and good riddance!

How in the crap are we gonna purge them if we keep electing them?

It’s our own fault for not educating the folks around us and for letting our kids be raised in government school for so long. We shouldn’t be surprised...

But what now? I guess we just have to become as activist as the liberals... oh yeah, I forgot...

WE HAVE JOBS!!! Maybe Obama will fix that.

It could have been Ron Paul. An anti-bailout, and anti-Fed candidate could have cleaned up...;but he was too “kooky” for the powers-that-be. Instead, we got McCain.

“Idiot” is my brother...

Anyway, good luck with that whole third-party thing. It’s not that I don’t agree, it’s just from the ground up may take too long.

Unless you like working from a concentration camp. If we’re not angry and fed up we won’t work for the real “change we need”. But if we don’t work together there won’t be anything but more chaos.

The Republican party is gone forever.

Yes, it was killed by the SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES, who want GOVERNMENT in the bedrooms of their neighbors to make sure 2 gays weren't sleeping together.

I'm a SMALL GOVERNMENT FISCAL CONSERVATIVE, and proud to be a member of the GOP! The rebirth has begun!! The RINOS are out!!

Sorry, I did not know your brother was the author. I take back the “idiot” comment.

But, I do think it is wishful thinking that another Reagan is lurking somewhere. Guys like that don’t just come down the pike.

In fact, there may never be another Reagan.

I seem to recall seeing and hearing him at several debates. If anyone was swayed by his rhetoric and wanted to vote for him they had their chances. He was a flat tire.

They broke the mold, man...

We just have to hope for a strong leader to take us where we need to be.

Guess there’s no way to know if it’s one of us, but like I said, we gotta start somewhere.

Hope you have a good night.

No, this man is far worse than Carter. I agree there is no Reagan out there, but I am fascinated to see what Jindal can do.

The rebirth has begun!! The RINOS are out!

Really. Call the RNC tomorrow and see who answers. Bet it will be the same persons who were in charge today.

Who else was constantly harping on the coming financial crisis and warning about the Fed’s easy money policy? Given the recent crash and bailout, why was that a “flat tire” for you? Ron Paul was the only guy who not only saw was it coming but saw why it was coming.
