This to me is what Joe Biden was talking about. Obama would not defend Israel with a retaliatory strike from the US. He would let Israel defend itself.

Obama will blame Israel. Palestinians...Hamas and company, were in DC about two years ago with a wish list. NPR interviewed them, of course, and they even had a half hour on C-Span.

They expect the US to install a Palestinian state and get it up and running from soup to nuts. Full infrastructure, fully educated, teach them how to run a state, maintain it, pour sand in a hole, whatever they need as long as it takes. US govt. (taxpayers), will pay ad infinitum.

Including any and all munitions and an army of US soldiers if needed, to protect the innocent Palestinians from evil Israeli’s, if any Jews are still alive and kicking in the Middle East. Obama and pals will sign on to this asap.

This is a necessary step, I believe, on the road to history.

0bama will leave Israel blowing in the wind. This allows Russia and Iran to create an official military alliance along with a few other ME states. Watch for Egypt and Iraq to sit this one out.

Once it is determined that we will not aid Israel against her enemies, Russia and Iran will move against her.

They (Russia and Iran) will be wiped out. Iraq will emerge as the ME powerhouse due to the economic aid we've been funneling into Baghdad. The US will sink into obscurity due to our leadership's unwillingness to get involved.

If Obama wins and Israel is not suicidal, there will be a major, perhaps nuclear, war between Israel and Iran before Christmas.

Otherwise, when the shooting starts, Obama will side with Iran. After Iran and the US are done with Israel (if Iran survives), Iran and perhaps Russia will turn on us.

Obama will be "tested," and will fail the test, in much less than 6 months.

Having Barack Olmert doesn’t help either.

I think one would have to look beyond the reported rhetoric, and dig down to assess the logic of an Iranian attack.

First off, let's grant that although Iran's leaders may be nuts, they're not stupid; and they've demonstrated the ability both to take and to maintain a long strategic view.

So... What would be the logic of an Iranian attack now? And what would be its goals?

To be honest, there isn't much advantage to be gained from an outright Iranian attack on Israel. They would almost certainly wait to see who gets elected in two weeks; and then they'd wait some more.

If Obama is elected, they'll wait until he's sworn in, because I think George Bush would want to deal with Iran while he's still president. I would not be surprised, in that scenario, to see American attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, from Iraqi bases and carrier assets.

Iran would instead wait until after January 20, and live up to Mr. Biden's dire prediction. And if Debka is right (huge IF) that Iran is within a few months of getting a bomb, then the Iranian test would probably feature their bomb in some ambiguous role.

If McCain is elected, I think that Iran doesn't do anything at all.

When you look at it from Iran’s side, I’m afraid the Iranian officials are correct. Israel will almost certainly attack before Iran builds a bomb, since Iran has promised to eliminate Israel. So if you know Israel is going to attack between now and February, wouldn’t you attack first?

W can’t attack between now and the elections, because he will prejudice the elections by doing so. Iran and Israel won’t either for the same reason. So between Nov 4 and Jan 30, expect fireworks.

Iran might want to wait until close to actual transfer of power, so that W doesn’t have a chance to initiate the U.S. response. Israel on the other hand, probably would be better off attacking while W is still in office. Which means for Iran to be preemptive, they would too.

Israel have any major holidays in that time frame that Iran would target?
