Powell's Endorsement of Obama Proves Race Will Play Major Role in Election

Unless you spent your vacation time on the Planet Mars last weekend, you undoubtedly have heard former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell has decided to endorse Barack Obama over John McCain in the upcoming presidential election. Of course Powell should have been expected to back Obama. After all, Powell and McCain have so very little in common, except for the fact Powell is a former member of the military, as was John McCain; both McCain and Powell can be considered fiscal conservatives; and, oh yeah, Powell is a Republican and so is the senior Senator from Arizona--who happens to be his Party's presidential nominee.

Now if it sounds like there is some sort of intellectual disconnect going on here, I guess you could put the blame on me. It certainly would seem John McCain and the former head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff would almost be joined together at the hip. They both frequently found themselves differing with Republican leadership and each was proud of the notion they were their own men, supposedly led by conscience over political expedience. In fact, Powell's name had frequently been mentioned during speculation over who would be the GOP's vice-presidential candidate. If not for the fact ...

McCain campaign reply...

“We thank General Powell for his service and leadership to our country”... “We thank General Powell for his $2300 donation to our campaign”... “We’re disappointed that General Powell has decided to vote for our opponent SOLEY on the color of his skin”... “I’m sure it will be ‘electrifying’ to pull the lever for him in November”...

Why won’t Powell just admit it? You’re now one of the 95% of Blacks that wants to vote for someone who looks like you even if you differ from him on many points... sad...

Indeed! And all the words spoken or written about the Bradley effect, the inherent "racism" in rural America, etc. are aimed at one thing: White Guilt.

Yep, haven't heard a peep about that, have you? But that's what's going down - a PsyOps move to get some percentage of White America to once more pony up the white guilt token and vote for the "black guy" simply because he's black.

Some strange irony that Black America seems to be at the other end of the spectrum from MLK's Dream.

Powell's Endorsement of Obama Proves Race Will Play Major Role in Election

No, that was already a given. What it did prove is that Powell is pro-death.

The road runs in both direction. Bets are more whites are going to vote white than blacks voting for blacks. Obama and Powell just blew the We're not racist mantra.

Did anyone honestly think that race was not going to be an issue?

Powell’s Endorsement of Obama Proves Race Will Play Major Role in Election

Don’t know that it poves a thing but was their ever any doubt about race playing a major role in this election? My guess is that Powell’s endorsement won’t sway many voters if any.

Question: If both candidates were of the same race - which one would Powell (at the age of 71 and enjoying retirement out of the public eye) support?
Answer: The one with the most experience, especially military - or neither.

Question: Was Powell's decision race based?
Answer: Der!

As with Rush, I await the list of all the inexperienced white liberals Powell will endorse.

All this proves is that Powell is a bigot, for whom color of skin matters more than content of character.

Sad thing is, Powell knows better; he just can’t rise above his bigotry.

Let’s see, when the “black vote” goes 90% for dhimmicrats in the past, and in this election it will be 98%,

yes, I think race is an issue in this election.

Powell donated $2300 to McCain in August 2007. Nothing to the Obama campaign up to now. Yet, Powell endorses Obama.

If the McCain campaign were smart, they would say they understood Powell’s endorsement of Obama because Powell was a trailblazer himself in terms of breaking down racial barriers. However, his reasoning leaves a lot to be desired given Obama’s lack of experience and achievement. Period.

The other side of it is that folks who were color blind have now been “initiated”. And it’s going to hurt Obama.

The clear indicator of race being an issue in the campaign is the Dem primary. Obama received more than 90% of the black vote against Hillary. It is not about issues for blacks.

LOL! I thought it was a racist thing. I mean, there's no difference between refusing to back someone because of their color and backing someone just because of their color.

Powell is so yesterday news. He holds his finger up to the wind to make his decisions. He is looking to have his bread buttered. He probably has a tingle up his leg having his name mentioned so many times in the news over the last 24 hours.

Powell= RINO, he didn’t even like the appointments of Alito and Roberts, so who cares about him, his endorsement was about race and was political, and that has been verified since he will be supposedly be working in the Zero admin. Most people see through this and I bet the libs are less than thrilled.
