It will come as no great surprise to regular readers of this blog that I have decided to not vote for Barack Obama next month. Since several repected Republican pundits and politicians have stirred the pot recently by making their reasoning for endorsing Obama part of the political discourse, I thought I might reveal some of the reasons why I am not supporting him, especially since McCain was not my first, or even my second choice in the Republican primary.
One of the great pleasures of self employment for me is the freedom to decide with whom to do business. The need for trust in a small business is critical. I wouldnt any more hire a known liar than I would risk a large inventory to a potential client without an unimpeachable letter of credit. Why would I jeopardize the financial security of those who depend on me by making such an immature business decision?
Further, I wouldnt knowingly decide to depend upon a supplier with a track record of not doing what he says he will do. Choosing vendors and suppliers is as much about dependability and accountability as it is about cost.
Bottom line is this: since I get to choose, I choose not to do business with liars.
My vote is no less important.
On several occasions, Obama verbally committed to participating in public Presidential financial system, saying he would aggressively pursue an agreement with John McCain. In fact, he completed the MDN Questionnaire which included this question

I just mailed my ballot today for Federal and Washington state elections.
Yes, I did not vote for Obama and hopefully my vote choices will be counted unless the washington state election commitee decides my ballot gets “lost” somehow.
I simply don’t understand how anyone who claims to even be a moderate Republican can vote for Obama. Forget all the issues except economic policy and you have to be either completely out of touch or a socialist to support him. He will raise taxes, take money from productive people and give it to non productive people, and increase the level of government intrusion into peoples every day life beyond anything we have ever known. Just his comment about “spreading the wealth around” should frighten everyone.
I had an interesting conversation with a registered “independent” while waiting for my pound of smoked turkey in the deli line about an hour ago. She explained to me why she was voting for Obama, I explained to her why I was not. I talked about his radical views and friends. I also explained to her my major problem with the Democrats always trying to “help” me because they obviously think every black person is too stupid to make it on their own. Her eyes got big. I don’t think she was expecting that. I shook her hand after we spoke and said “nice meeting you fellow voter” I don’t think I changed her mind.
I don’t either. They are entitled to their opinions, but you have to wonder what their motivations are to publicly endorse a liar
that’s a great story brwnsuga. Wish I could have been there. :)
I’m sure they will count them all until they get it “right”
I won’t be voting for Obammy because I’m white and therefore I vote for the white guy (secret reverse logic of Colon Bowell)
No, the real reason I won’t be voting for the Marxist squirrel is because I hate slavery. I think that about covers all the bases.
I have had similar conversations with Obama supporters but not based on race. I ask them to name me a single government social program that has actually produced the results promised. They can never name a single program, whereas I can point to many that have had the opposite result or an unintended consequence that was worse than the original promise. Yet, we keep on believing the government can do great things for us.
I had a conversation with an Ubama supporter that made me wonder if I’d fallen down the rabbit hole. She kept saying that McCain’s no war hero, that he crashed three airplanes, and when I said that Palin’s the only candidate out of all four of them that has executive experience, she said, “Only two years!”
I reminded her that it was a moot point, since none of the other three candidates have any at all.
I went on to ask her what her reaction would have been had she been facing daily torture at the hands of the NVA and then refused the chance to go home early because he didn’t want to give the enemy that kind of propaganda opportunity, and because it would have demoralized his fellow POWs. I could tell she had no answer, so I said, “Think about it” and left. I know I didn’t change her mind.
Washington does the majority of the voting via mail in ballots now so it does make it much easier. The reason why I mailed it was because the other option is to drop them off at special drop boxes located at some libaries and I think that could be a much more prime target for those looking to target votes coming from certain districts. All it takes is some DU type to steal them or damage them in some way to make them unreadable. I live in the Bellevue suburb which is the more conservative area of Seattle. The ballot dropoff boxes in our area is a prime target for those looking to alter the results in the fed, and local elections. We have a very important race for governor right now that is going to be very close, and wanted to make sure nobody messed with my ballot and my vote counts.
