I had an interesting conversation with a registered “independent” while waiting for my pound of smoked turkey in the deli line about an hour ago. She explained to me why she was voting for Obama, I explained to her why I was not. I talked about his radical views and friends. I also explained to her my major problem with the Democrats always trying to “help” me because they obviously think every black person is too stupid to make it on their own. Her eyes got big. I don’t think she was expecting that. I shook her hand after we spoke and said “nice meeting you fellow voter” I don’t think I changed her mind.
that’s a great story brwnsuga. Wish I could have been there. :)
I have had similar conversations with Obama supporters but not based on race. I ask them to name me a single government social program that has actually produced the results promised. They can never name a single program, whereas I can point to many that have had the opposite result or an unintended consequence that was worse than the original promise. Yet, we keep on believing the government can do great things for us.
