I happen to be a member of the "conservative wing" of the Republican party, and McCain was my LAST choice in the Primary. My Dream ticket during the Primary was Duncan Hunter/Sarah Palin..... I was thrilled to see McCain was able to convince Sarah Palin to join his ticket, however I am afraid it just might not be enough.. Sarah Palin is doing a great job energizing us conservatives, however it takes more than "vote for me becuase my opponent is worse" camaign to win an election.... few if any conservatives are excited about the "McCain" campaign which is reflected in the poll, however I am cautiously optimistic than come November, many of us will hold our nose and vote for McCain just because of Sarah Palin.
jammer,
I struggled over this decision a lot.. if you go back and read some of my postings over the past year you will see that...
The ONLY reason I can vote for McCain is because the name “Sarah Palin” appears next to it on the ballot... PERIOD.. you will NOT be criticized by me for taking the principled stance that you have.. I can only pray that IF McCain loses to Obama the number of 3rd party votes by conservatives is less than the margin of victory for Obama, otherwise you will be accused by MANY (myself NOT included) for electing Obama..
FReegards,
David
Worse than despicable. I believe useful idiot will do.
A wee bit full of yourself aren't you?
pgkdan,
Please tone it down a bit... jammer is one of MANY great conservatives who feel that way... the fact of the matter is we NEEDED a conservative candidate to win and we failed to nominate one in the primary.. so, if Obama wins (which I pray he does not) we are getting exactly what we asked for... period
Sadly. You may be right. I wish people would think more along the lines of where our military will be after Jan 20th., and if the POTUS will be on the side of a democratic controlled congress or not. If they get in and we lose more seats in the congress our ass is grassed for a long time.
full of myself? hardly.. analyzing facts and asking questions is hardly selfish... in fact I think it’s rather wise.. under the circumstances I can only pray that the number of conservatives who refuse to pull the lever for McCain is LESS than the margin of victory for Obama IF he wins... I am cautiously optimistic that McCain/Palin will be able to pull it off, but I would be lying if I said I was not concerned.. Blaming principled conservatives who refuse to pull the lever for McCain before the votes are counted is a bit pre-mature IMHO.. IF and WHEN the votes are counted there will be plenty of blame to go arround the GOP if McCain comes up short of 270 Electoral Votes
Some conservatives may sit out, but I don’t think that it will be any worse than those who sat out for Bush in 2004. Fact is, Obama has scared 95% of conservatives who’d have otherwise shunned McCain into pulling the lever for him.
I pray that you are correct and that the number of conservatives who “sit out” or vote 3rd party does not exceed the margin of victory for Obama if he wins.
I hear you !!
Thanks. Although it’s rather blunt, I think it’s extremely important to call people on this. This type of mushy thinking is very dangerous.
We know enough to know what’s best for our country. Period!
I trust your virtue will be a comfort to you while you watch your family members being lynched and shot in our future homes in Obama’s concentration camps.
So if the number of conservatives who vote 3rd party or sit out the election exceed the margin of victory for Obama, than who is the blame?
1. The folks who voted 3rd party/sat out? or.....
2. The folks who voted for McCain in the primary?
The answer to this question will determine how we (THE GOP) respond in 2012... If voting for a RINO in the primary is a NON-winning strategy.. maybe just maybe we will put forward a more conservative candidate in 2012...
Most on this forum know that I and the First lady don't like McCain. And no, I'm not going to list all of the reasons. Bandwidth ya know.
Having said that, the choice is crystal clear. Vote for the democrat, McCain, or get a marxist as president. Then again, I don't know, maybe McCain just prolongs the inevitable.
OK, I'm voting for Sarah Barracuda. There, I said it.
5.56mm
:)
Go, Sarah, Go.
:)
And that's the thing that the Obamabots don't get about him. He is FAR too left for the majority of Americans to be elected.
Until the Democrats realize that hewing to the far left is a deal breaker for Americans, they're going to keep losing the White House.
You'd think they'd get it after Gore and Kerry both lost to GW, but no. They keep doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. It's the clinical definition of insanity.
if only that were true.. I wish conservatives would quit voting for RINOS in the primary !
great pic
