The response from Senator Obama and his campaign yesterday was to attack Joe. People are digging through his personal life and he has TV crews camped out in front of his house. He didn't ask for Senator Obama to come to his house. He wasn't recruited or prompted by our campaign. He just asked a question. And Americans ought to be able to ask Senator Obama tough questions without being smeared and targeted with political attacks.
Commercial. NOW! Spend some of the reported $160 million!

his plan gives away your tax dollars to those who don't pay taxes. That's not a tax cut, that's welfare Marxism. Fixed it for him.

Welfare as a message works. Tell the American people that Obama wants to take your money and give away as welfare to others.

This is needs to be it for his campaign from now until the election.
He needs to defend Joe the plumber. He needs to repeat what Obama said about “spreading the wealth”.
To: hecht
The explosion of government spending over the last eight years has put us deeper in debt to foreign countries that don't have our best interests at heart. It weakened the dollar and made everything you buy more expensive.
McCain would be far more effective if he ran against the past 2 years rather than the past 8. He should tie all this to Dems taking Congress.

Finally. Wish McCain had said this in the debate.

I will freeze government spending on all but the most important programs like defense, veterans care, Social Security and health care until we scrub every single government program and get rid of the ones that aren't working for the American people. And I will veto every single pork barrel bill Congresses passes. THAT'S what we need. Simple. Direct. FREEZE GOVERNMENT SPENDING.
I think that'll go over much better with people than arcane goofy spending proposals.
And good on Mac for defending Joe.

You know John, if I didn’t know better I might think that you have been ‘sandbagging’ until the last 3 weeks of the campaign playing rope-a-dope with Obama as he spent hundreds of millions of dollars on TV advertising. John, I will never question your skill at tactics and strategy. You choice of Sarah and your ability to keep her pick a secret until the very last moment was virtuoso, a piece de resistance. Keep it up John.

not only did he vote for higher taxes on the middle class in the Senate, his plan gives away your tax dollars to those who don't pay taxes.
That's not a tax cut, that's welfare. America didn't become the greatest nation on earth by redistributing wealth; we became the greatest nation by creating new wealth.
Where has this McCain been?
Why did he say this at the debate? Any of them.
I've been saying here for weeks that McCain needed to call 0bama's tax plan what it is: WELFARE, call 0bama's wealth redistribution what it is: SOCIALISM (as Sarah Palin has now.)
Is this a strategy by the McCain campaign, to hold back on this stuff until after the debates, so 0bama doesn't have the national platform to defend against it?
Or did these guys just now figure this stuff out, days after the last debate?
What about 0bama's links to The Democratic Socialists of America and The New Left Party?
Are they unaware? Is the like of Sean Hannity unaware?
Or are they waiting until the final week or so to bring it out?
This election shouldn't be close at all, and I'm concerned that the Right is blowing it bigtime by finding half a message far too late.
Where are the Republicans asking people if they're better off than they were two years ago?
Why are they not hammering it in every day that the Democrats have been running things for the past two years?
Do they not realize that only about 20% of Americans even know that the Democrats control Congress?
The Democrats understand this, which is why they're blaming Republicans for the mess of the last two years.
Why haven't Republicans figured out that the American people don't understand that it's the Democrats who have been in charge?
