Making it clear that white people must not criticize Obama or they will be deemed “racists” is likely worth a few points for McCain.

This is just like any discussion about racial preferences. If you claim that people who oppose racial preferences for minorities are racists then you are likely to piss them off and motivate them to vote against you at the same time.
