My take on the Vice-Presidential debate IMHO Advantage Palin.

Whether she whupped his ass or not, depends upon whether you read Democratic Underground or Free Republic.

I noticed a five-minute period in the middle of the debate where Palin had Biden either so upset or so flustered that he couldn't complete a sentence.

I believe that the reason she didn't bring up the things that could have eviscerated Obama/Biden with: Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac/Dodd/Frank/Waters; Obama/Wright/Ayres/Wright/Davis- was that her coaches instructed her not to do so, as that would have given an entirely new and possibly interpretable as "bitchy" to her persona, which they were in dire need of resurrecting.

I regret saying that because it sounds sexist, but that's what I think.

Not bringing up those issues was a big mistake. I don't think it would matter if Palin were seen as bitchy--if McCain/Palin were playing to win, they'd have done so--putting those issues into the news cycle would have far, far outweighed any static on Palin. And the point of all this isn't to keep Palin from being roughed up--if she can take it, as we keep saying she can, she shouldn't shy away from the traditional attack dog mode.

I think she did fine, but she needed to wallop Obama/Biden. She didn't.

Palin did a good job of creating confidence about her. Less of a job about painting obama as a risk. McCain’s campaign needs to focus on the three C’s of lending in taking down obama: Collateral (where’s his money coming from), Credit (his history) and most importantly, Character (his shady accomplices). These make obama the sub-prime candidate.
