Gov. Blunt Statement on Obama Campaign’s Abusive Use of Missouri Law Enforcement

JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.

“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.

“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.

“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.

“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts - not a free society.”

In a rational society, when sitting governor makes such accusations the media would take notice. Ours, apparently, is not a rational society.

Forget about NASA and expensive space programs. Governor Matt Blunt has just kicked Barry’s butt and launched it into orbit.

Smack-down!! This is a bizarre story on so many levels. For one, law enforcement officials using public time to engage in intimidating campaign tactics. Seeing that local news clip just chilled me to the bone. Is this America?

This doesn’t bode well for the future in a B. Hussein regime.

Makes sense to me.

If the Prince of Darkness and his acolytes behave so highhandedly when he isn’t even in office, we can imagine what he will do when he is there.

McCain and Palin are still fair game though, right? Now I see how this works.

If a Democrat governor had made such charges, it would be all over the MSM, investigations demanded, firings of people demanded, the whole nine yards. But since it’s a Republican governor complaining about Obama and his tactics, it’s a minor story or ignored.

See, you have to consider the source and the political parties involved. Democrats can get away with things that Republicans can’t. The media is on the side of the Democrats.

Society?

It is our corrupt news media who are not rational.

Bravo, Gov. Blunt. I hope he orders the MO State Attorney General’s office to conduct a full and complete investigation into this matter, ASAP.

It's not Obama's "Truth Squads" that scare me.

What scares me is how many of his people would seem to be willing to join Obama Death Squads.

Watching the debate last night and how Obama handled himself, I realized I could never vote for one of his kind. I’ve always had that rule, but it’s becoming more difficult all the time since the government is being over run with ...them....

And just what ‘kind’ am I talking about .....LAWYERS!!

NEVER vote for a lawyer! And that’s what Barry sounded like last night. And not a very good one at that

Shouldn't SEN. McCaskill be using some stem cells to find a cure for a disease? That is what she promised back during the election.

Go back to Cape and get a job working as a hostess at My Daddy's Cheesecake Clare.
