Bawney Fwank is the leader of those who stopped this issue from being addressed years ago, when McCain proposed a solution.

The mess was STARTED by democraps who insisted banks make loans to unqualified borrowers or risk federal investigation of their 'redlining' practices (otherwise known as EXTORTION)

The EVIL BANKS are complicit only in that they knew what would happen -but they did it anyway, but they are BUISNESSMEN and make a living by predicting and following the results of government intervention. (see EXTORTION above)

Welfare cost us 4 trillion (so far) this mess will cost ANOTHER trillion, the entire federal debt of 9 billion can be traced back to democrap spending.

Aren't their any Republicans in washington who know this too?

They should have the debate Friday- but make it about financial issues (see if Obamarama can ‘multitask’) and McCain can explain how he saw this coming years ago and how the democraps caused it in the first place- have Obamarama explain ‘redlining’

I think Social Security and Medicare are far more likely to destroy this country and a measly $700 billion will not even be a drop in the bucket when that bill comes due.

There was a link posted yesterday (FR's database error is preventing me from locating it) to a NYT article from Sept 11, 2003 detailing President Bush's efforts to get legislation passed that would have halted Fannie May and Freddie Mac's subprime market trading. The democRATs blocked the bill because it would adversely affect the ability of the poor to obtain mortgages.

Can anyone recover that link?

It is a big screw up, but not the worst. One need only to look at FDRs policies during the depression to see at least 3 bigger screw ups. By the way, why do you use "Democrat Politics"? You can drop the word "Democrat" and it would still be true.

Fox News (Britt Hume’s show) played clips of Barney Frank (2003) and Chuck Schumer (2005) grandstanding against the Republican bill to regulate the two Fannies. Barney Frank accused the Republicans of “scaring” the American people and Schumer kept up the rhetoric about how the two Fans have done a fantastic job........A clip of John McCain was played demanding some regulation for these two entities...why isn’t this story on the front page of newspapers across this country!!

The push is to fix the problem not point fingers. There will be plenty of time to do that, but the problem has to be dealt with now. Fortunately, there are Republicans who are balking at an outright bailout. If we can get a good conservative fix, then we can absolutely unload on the democrats.

In the mean time, all of us out here in the weeds and really talk it up. Everybody is talking about the economy and we have some undeniable facts on how it got in this shape.
