Shocking Poll: Jews Defecting to McCain in Droves
A shocking new poll shows that Jewish voters in New York prefer McCain over Obama by a margin of 54-32 percent. That is even more remarkable because the last poll showed that New York Jews preferred Obama over McCain by a margin of 55-42 percent. That is a 35-point reversal!

He also had a distant cousin who loved this country, doesn’t mean he does.
Your 0.1% Jewish Wyoming stat remined me of a a guy I knew, Jewish guy, a CCNY graduate no less, who really, really wanted to move to Wyoming, but he couldn’t get a job there. He worked in Massachusetts, wore a cowboy belt and boots. His boss, a fellow CCNY alum, used to call him the Jewish Cowboy. He was all Jewish, and for a dumpy fifty-something guy, all Cowboy.
I attended a Bat Mitzvah at his temple once and he looked surprised to see me, greeting me with “Shalom Shabat”, a greeting I warmly returned. I’ve been mistaken for a Yid more than once and never take offence.
I’d like to add something to your state charts of Jewish voters. A professional pollster would have some way of weighing the Jewish percentages of voters to be greater, because they are highly likely to vote. This is true especially of the highly concentrated elderly vote living in retirement condos.
Apparently this does not extend to Jews in HollywoodThe Jews in Hollywood learned on the casting couch that the Pali's are the "good guys". (At the same time they received their anatomy lessons.)
I sent an e-mail to Rasmussen asking about Jewish voters and whether it is something he is weighting for. We’ll have to wait to see if I get a response.
It puts New Jersey in play. More importantly, it helps solidify Florida, Ohio, Colorado, and helps in Pennsylvania. If McCain can take any 3 of these, he wins.
Medved knows nothing of New York politics. New York City JEws have voted for Republicans in 4 of the last 5 Mayoral elections, twice against Jewish Democrat candidates.
I’m glad to hear NY Jews are voting Republican more often these days.
I’m no great fan of Medved’s, but do agree with his statement re Jews voting for Republicans (or not).
With Giuliani, the votes were likely because he “saved” NYC, and Bloomberg is, after all, Jewish.
But for whatever reason, it is good to know that in some places Jewish people are changing course and voting “R.”
I don't see McCain carrying New York or California. There is a growing Jewish presence in Northern Virginia, but not enough to swing the election even if they defected to the GOP this time around. Even if he carried the heavily Jewish areas of NJ (Highland Park, Teaneck, Marlboro, Manalapan, Tenafly, etc.) he would still have to overcome the "urban vote" (dead and undead), to say nothing of the government employee vote (NJ has more state employees per capita than any other state).
