So you really think Palin's a lousy pick?

Sarah Palin's speech last night confirmed what I already knew: Palin was the best vice presidential candidate that John McCain could have picked.

A few folks on our side have and probably still have doubts about Palin. But the vast majority of us are fired up.The gop base is more fired up than when what it was in 2004 when Bush 62 million votes. We’re not only going to work our tails off to win this year, we know in Palin that the gop has a future as a conservative party. So that you Mr. McCain for unifying the gop with a great pick.

If the best compliment the Democrats could give is she's a polished attack machine, no wonder they're gloomy! Then again, aren't they always?

If Palin is too inexperienced to be VP, and Obama is less experienced than she is, then why is he their P candidate?

If VP must = Experience

And P must = Experience Plus

And Obama = ZERO Experience

Then Obama should not be VP.

Absolutely NOT P.

I defy you to name one other person that McCain could have picked that would have energized the conservative base more than Palin has.

I defy you to name one person who could have single-handedly wiped Obama from the news headlines as much as Palin has.

Time has already told.

Hi, Andrew. When you post a thread that's your own blog, it's supposed to go in the "bloggers/personal" section, rather than "news/activism". Otherwise, the mods will just move it for you as they've done with your other threads. It'd be nice to save them the trouble.

Welcome to Free Republic, hope you enjoy it here.

John Bolton speaks on Sarah Palin “Impressive!”
http://towncriernews.blogspot.com/2008/09/john-bolton-speaks-on-sarah-palin.html

Listen to Ambassador John Bolton as he joins Lars at the RNC to talk about Sarah Palin.

Tuesday, Sep 02, 2008

http://www.larslarson.com/pg/jsp/charts/streamingAudioMaster.jsp?dispid=362&size=10&headerDe

John Bolton has met with Palin. He has every confidence in her.

Bolton said [paraphrasing]...they talked about missle defense, etc. and she was very knowledgeable and she is a ‘quick study’. He was very impressed.

Also at the Lars Larson website is a discussion he had with Gov. Palin in July about Energy and Alaska. Worth the listen!

Two quotes:

“Alaskans want to see Anwar developed”
“What we [Alaska] need if for congress to unlock our lands!”

The gop base is more fired up than when what it was in 2004 when Bush 62 million votes.

And I'll remind you that switch 60,000 of those votes in one state and we're looking at Kerry's campaign for a second term.

I don't give a damn how Palin is playing in Texas or Mississippi or Indiana or Alaska or South Carolina, or what she's doing for the base there. Those states aren't in play, and McCain could carry them by 40 percentage points thanks to Palin and it won't make him president. I DO care how Palin plays in Ohio and Michigan and Pennsylvania and Colorado and New Mexico because those are the states where the election will be decided. Many of those very same attributes that energize the base may - may - turn off independents and moderate Democrats in those swing states. So you'll forgive me if I prefer to wait and see what the Palin pick does in the states that really matter before I agree that she was the best possible choice.

Sarah Palin is the ONLY running mate in HISTORY who has actually generated enthusiasm for a ticket. The significance of this cannot even be measured.

You are correct, as unpopular as it may be.

Sarah is the best speaker among the 4, has solid conservative credentials, can appeal to the female voters, and (bonus!) is really easy on the eyes.

Won’t mean spit if she doesn’t bring home PA, FL, and OH. Too early to tell.

One thing’s for certain - whether or not she as the right choice to usher McCain into the WH, she was most certainly a BOLD choice. Credit McCain for swinging for the fences.

The question is (according to the title of the thread):

“So you really think Palin is a lousy pick?”

Your criteria for answering that question is only if McCain/Palin wins the election?

So in other words, by your logic, if they win, it was only because of Palin, and if they lose, it was only because of Palin.

That’s pretty odd logic.

Sour Romney fan? Disgruntled Pawlenty supporter? Ron Paul-bot?

You’re completely right. Most of the time, the pick is a boring fella no one’s ever heard of and is using the ticket to propel himself into the spotlight.
