2008 Election Analysis : FReeper David Osborne 02 Sept 2008

I am a strong conservative who believes very strongly in a TWO-PARTY system of National Government -- MAJORITY/MINORITY -- One party leans to the left (liberal) and the other leans to the right (conservative) ---

Having said that...... I AM NOT A REPUBLICAN ! -- I AM A CONSERVATIVE .. sorry for yelling.. but so many folks just don't get it... The Republican party has selected John McCain as it's nominnee for President in 2008.. For this I am DEEPLY saddened.. John McCain is one of the most LEFT LEANING Republicans in the party.. which basicly means that the Republican Party has taken a HUGE step to left..

My analysis of the situation is simply this.. During the Primary election the conservatives in the Republican Party split their vote between several REAL conservatives who were running.. and for that we got STUCK with McCain who was able to capture the vote of the middle/left leaning Republicans...

Now having said that I am pleased to see that Sarah Palin has agreed to join the McCain ticket, and I can now vote for HER knowing that I will get McCain as a "package deal".. Which will allow the Republican Party to regroup in 2012.

I have a lot more to say but I will save it for another post if you are interested in continuing this discussion.

A bad bone only in reference to McCain’s insincerety. He doesn’t treat women well nor does he think much of the conservatives. McCain won’t be interactively working with her to help continue the conservative platform.

Then, if McCain can’t finish his term and Palin has to fulfill the office of CIC, that will be a foreign relation disaster. China, Russia, and the MidEast will view a woman CIC as a sign of weakness.

On the plus side, Palin WILL help clean up the RNC.

>>>I think Hunter explains that with his mention of the ‘day job’.

Yes he did. I was referring to the broken communications with his campaign. They had a wall up and did not work well with the grassroots.

>>>Remember, he kept going back to DC to take care of business, to California for the fires.....he tried to do his job. If McCain proved anything it’s that you can’t do your job and win a national election....he was in NH for 8 years instead of on the senate floor.

That is absolutely correct.

i think your analysis here is pretty much the same as that of many conservatives and many Republicans. We have kind of written off the near future and are looking a few years ahead. Palin on the ticket puts the near term back into play.Palin and Jindal are the visible future of the Republican Party. There may be more of these out there but these are the ones standing out now. All that said, if McCain (or O'Bama) gets Amnesty, none of it matters even a little bit. Amnesty gives us quickly many millions more voting Democrat socialists and many millions more with a new very powerful incentive to cross the border northward- The Camp Of The Saints magnified exponentially.

By “given” within the context of my statement I meant the conservative movement is always in a minority. Put another way it takes a lot of work (all types activities on our part) to attempt to keep the Republic from finally falling apart. That said. At least the socialist may be keeped at bay this time around.

IMHO -— I disagree Conservatism is not the minority.. in fact conservatism when properly expressed WINS election (ie Ronald Reagan) -— I think Sarah Palin will carry this election for John McCain, and we can’t let John McCain forget it..
