Posted on 08/30/2008 5:14:29 AM PDT by moneyrunner
I first learned that Sarah Palin received McCains nod to be Vice President from Rush Limbaugh and listened to her speech. Shes good. And the Conservative base is ecstatic over the choice.
Here is the point: Palin is the long ball. But at the same time, she brings everything to the ticket that McCain needs.
McCain needs the Conservative base. He has now sewn that up. Palin is pro-life, shes pro-gun, shes pro-family (5 children), shes small town, her sons in the Army, shes small government, shes throw-the rascals-out, shes lower taxes, shes giving money back to the people, shes against the bridge to nowhere.
As one feminist said: My impression is that her reputation as a reformer and an honest-government type is solid. People will love her. THAT is what the Republicans need to return from the political wilderness.
And heres what that brings to the election. McCains problem has been his impulse to burnish his maverick image by sticking his thumb in the eye of the Right. But for any Republican, thats his base. He cant win without it. And its not just the base turning out on Election Day. Its the base going door-to-door before the election. Its the thousands of women in hundreds of Republican Womens Clubs who were going to give pro-forma lip service to McCain but will now work their hearts out for Palins election. In one stroke, McCain created an army of volunteers that rivals in numbers, overwhelms in ability and surpasses in wealth the youth that Hussein has drafted.
You dont have to take my word for it; just ask my wife and her friends.

I honestly have to admit, I am going to get involved in his campaign now. I mean actively involved. I would have just voted the other day.
Cokie Roberts actually just had a good assessment of Palin. After spanking those who question whether Palin can run for veep with a special needs baby, she said that as McCain was contemplating Pawlenty, he probably realized that Pawlenty would get the criticism of not much experience, so why not swing for the fences? With the high generic negatives for Republicans, his only shot is to go for the home run. He definitely lauched a deep shot in choosing Palin. We'll see if it is long enough to clear the fences. But he would have no chance if he chose to play smallball.
The idea of selecting Palin, is to twist the knife a little tighter.
She's not my choice, but I'm enjoying seeing the Left oxygen deprived.
The Leftist Socialist media is already attacking her selection. For example, the LA Times says: “Risky Palin pick raises questions about McCain”. The newspapers and media in general make me vomit.
It also brought him money. I read they took in 3 million yesterday between the time they announced and 6 PM.
Cokie Roberts said something positive about a republican?
Are you implying that McCain stabbed the other possible VP candidates in the back? Or were you referring to his "maverick" actions before this campaign?
“I am going to get involved in his campaign now. I mean actively involved”
There is something about today being a deadline donating day. Does anyone know what that is?
Michael Savage is beside himself. He’s apoplectic about it. Saying that McCain has thrown the election to Obama. That is wss the absolute dumbest pick when he should have piced Mitt.
Sarah Plain and Tall is opening those republican checkbooks that would have never donated to the McCain campaign.
There was not a single negative statement about Biden’s selection. This is a 35 year beltway resident with no executive experience, and one that is 180 degress opposite of Obama’s message. Now, with Palin, all articles raise questions about her, about McCain, and about GOP’s troubles.
If you think the MSM is attacking, don’t go to DU...there’s awful rumors being spread...conspiracy theories of the basest kind. Plus they’ve become all judgmental about how wrong it is for a mom of a special needs kid to take a job, it’s funny to read their uppity snobberish remarks (funny, not haha, but funny, sick, bizarro world.)
Doctor Savage needs to be a little more optimistic once in a while. He is so negative about everything, I'm surprised it hasn't caused him health problems. I sometimes enjoy his rants, but I prefer a Rush or Hannity perspective - they both have optimism to go along with their assessments, good or bad.
The obama camp is not united, and the clintons will not work for this guy. The anger of those who wanted to see hillary is real and very big.
In one fell swoop the pick by McCain has jazzed up and solidified the conservative base. He's also picked a proven conservative.
I thought it would be Romney as well, but I like Palin.
I'm watching GMA this morning and the liberal male host is a complete tool. He raised the issue of her special need child, and just said she keeps a dead grizzly bear in her office. I love it. Let the NYC elitist metrosexuals belittle rugged Americanism. The blue dog votes will defect from the Dems in droves.
Just saw video of her shooting an M-4 in auto mode when she was in Iraq. Total control of the weapon. I could only imagine how Obama or Plugs would look doing such.
McCain the arrogant did indeed pick a conservative but it may be that all of this is just politcal and McCain, who despises the conservative Christian base on the once conservative pub party, picked her just to try to gain support of the conservatives which is obvious.
But he is the Presidential candidate and so liberal and I wonder if the time of the lesser of two evils is not an option for those of us who are conservative and especially conservative Christian.
