I have to admire McCain. He seems to have put together an able, vigorous campaign team that is technology savvy, proactive and very smart. And he is showing a mastery of generalship that I thought was beyond him. I underestimated him. But I’m not alone; so did the rest of the punditocracy.

I honestly have to admit, I am going to get involved in his campaign now. I mean actively involved. I would have just voted the other day.

Here is the point: Palin is the long ball.

Cokie Roberts actually just had a good assessment of Palin. After spanking those who question whether Palin can run for veep with a special needs baby, she said that as McCain was contemplating Pawlenty, he probably realized that Pawlenty would get the criticism of not much experience, so why not swing for the fences? With the high generic negatives for Republicans, his only shot is to go for the home run. He definitely lauched a deep shot in choosing Palin. We'll see if it is long enough to clear the fences. But he would have no chance if he chose to play smallball.

I would think that the “punditocracy” would know by now that McCain is the Chief Backstabber.

The idea of selecting Palin, is to twist the knife a little tighter.

She's not my choice, but I'm enjoying seeing the Left oxygen deprived.

The Leftist Socialist media is already attacking her selection. For example, the LA Times says: “Risky Palin pick raises questions about McCain”. The newspapers and media in general make me vomit.

It also brought him money. I read they took in 3 million yesterday between the time they announced and 6 PM.

Husband just said, "They need to run a video ad where she explains that THEY are going to try to scare you about her...telling that she comes from a small town, etc....and that she's a (gasp) WOMAN!" I like his idea... ;-)))

McCain the arrogant did indeed pick a conservative but it may be that all of this is just politcal and McCain, who despises the conservative Christian base on the once conservative pub party, picked her just to try to gain support of the conservatives which is obvious.
But he is the Presidential candidate and so liberal and I wonder if the time of the lesser of two evils is not an option for those of us who are conservative and especially conservative Christian.

It will be WW3 if anyone attacks Sarah, she earned the nickname “Barracuda” in high school because of her skills at basketball.

And he is showing a mastery of generalship...

Indeed anyone familiar with military planning for an operation will see its influence on the conduct of the McCain campaign. Brilliant!

I believe that Sarah will be able to run for president in 4 years. That is what the MSM is really afraid of. They (MSM) have already conceded this election the McCain.

Amazing VP pick. Time will if it is smart or not. I love the fact that she is not an ATTORNEY.

I’m absolutely jazzed about the election now. Palin is smart, sharp, tough - a true conservative. She fills the gaps in many ways for McCain... everyone around here in my household was just beaming after the announcement.

From the positive reaction on FR it would seem that this pick was the best possible one.

Not only does it shore up McCain's right wing, but it also drains some of the disaffected Hillary voters away from voting for Obama.

The reason the MSM is apoplectic is because they were hoping that the GOP would be as divided as the Democrat's are.

A united GOP wins every time.
