At our Golden K breakfast meeting yesterday, our guest speaker was our state representative (R). He painted a bleak picture of Illinois state politics. The House speaker and Senate president (both Democrats) don’t talk to one another. Bills passed in one chamber aren’t even considered in the other. What they have done is increased proposed spending by over 2 billion with anticipated increase in income of around 250 million. State pensions are being robbed, as are state Medicare funds, in order to pay for programs they want.

He essentially said it’s up to us the voter. We have to unite and let the assembly know we won’t stand for it. As for Blagoyovich, he wants to run again but was given a 1% chance. He’s a non-starter even within his own party.

This is what America has in store should Obama become President. Emil Jones, Senate president, is his mentor. BTW, Jones is retiring and has named his son as successor.

Just heard that Sarah Palin has a four month old Down Syndrome baby. Media is asking if Vice Presidency will keep her from caring for the baby. "Down babies need a lot of care." ALL babies need care. She can do it or she would not be the Republican Vice Presidential nominee. Media. . . don't get me started.
