Earlier this year I wrote what, at the time, I thought was a tongue in cheek column titled, "Obama The Antichrist? Hmm." The commentary was in response to what I believed was an irrationally positive response to the Obama presidential run. There seemed to be a mystical quality surrounding Obama's campaign. People were fainting, journalists were saying their legs were tingling while listening to Obama's speeches, it seemed very strange to me. In fact, it seemed so strange, I tried to make light of the situation with my commentary.
However, since I wrote the piece, I have learned some Obama supporters have attributed Messianic qualities to the junior Senator from Illinois. In fact, the following words came directly from the mouth of Sen. Barack Obama...

Yup, just a punk.
Well I searched it at least 3 times heh. My daughter asked me if I thought he was the Antichrist. I told her I didn't think so but he had some of the qualities I might look for, not that I have ever presumed to know. Anybody you don't like is the antichrist. I think he (male) is supposed to come as a man of peace. But we just had that, and another treaty broken with Israel already. Who knows? Not me.
Go with Israel
They know trouble when they smell it!
Neither. He’s just another socialist with an eloquent voice.
My brother’s convinced he’s a precursor, preparing the way...de-sensitizing the masses with for instance his extreme abortion views.
You mean they don't like Obama? Isn't Israel supposed to accept a false messiah?
One things for sure, I’ve never seen so many people swoon for a POLITICIAN in my lifetime. It’s both creepy and disgusting.
He’s really the 12th Imam.
Obama appears to be neither.
“it seemed very strange to me.”
We don’t have Presidents anymore, we have cult leaders.
Frankly, I warned against personality worship with GW.
Yes, a leader may have tremendous magnetism (although much of his/her ‘magnetism’ may be projected on him/her by his/her audience).
Teenage girls used to pass-out and have the big ‘o’ (maybe a little ‘o’ anyway)at Elvis concerts — back in the day.
What if Obama DID walk on water?
So what?
How would that qualify him to be president?
In India they have faqirs that can drive nails through their flesh, suspend operation of their vital organs, and do all kinds of amazing things... So what?
All of these things have nothing to do with running a Nation.
There are individuals that have very convincing speech... persuasive voices and so forth... they’re called salesman.
Of course some are better than others.
A good actor can also sway an audience even to tears.
It’s good if a leader has persuasive oratory skills, but there could be tragic consequences if his gift is not tempered with certain virtues such as humility and so forth.
And, of course, he (she) should but the needs of his Nation foremost.
He (she) should put the needs of the people even before his/her own selfish considerations... considerations that may temporally benefit himself (herself)... sometimes at the peoples expense.
And, of course, he (she) should have good judgment — lest he (she) endanger the people he (she) is so charged with defending.
It goes without saying that he (she) should always — to the best of his (her) ability — have the best interest of the people at heart.
Leading a Nation — let alone the greatest Nation on earth — is, obviously, a most onerous task.
From the above one can draw their own conclusions about the fitness of Obama.
