DUmmie FUnnies 08-20-08 (DUmmies Hit Panic Button Over Obama Poll Freefall)
DUmmie FUnnies ^ | August 20, 2008 | PJ-Comix

Posted on 08/20/2008 3:10:45 PM PDT by PJ-Comix

What a difference a few weeks make. Not long ago the DUmmies were doing their victory dances in the end zone while high fivin' each other over the Barack Obama victory that was SURE to happen in November. The campaign and the voting itself were mere formalities since the victory of the Lightworker was a done deal in their tiny little minds. Well, reality has now set in that shows John McCain about 5 points AHEAD of the Obamassiah. And now the scene is like the alarm claxons going off at the end of "Dr. No" with the DUmmies running aimlessly in all directions in a state of panic as you can see in their THREAD titled, "So Far, Obama's Campaign Has Been Dukakis-esque." Interesting that they bring up the name of Dukakis who was about 17 points ahead of Bush I in the summer of 1988. I had a friend, Sam, from Massachussetts who was gloating that time over the inevitable victory of his former governor. So I bet him a modest 10 bucks that Bush would win. He eagerly took my bet. We all know what happened to Dukakis in that election so lets fast forward to a couple of days after he lost in a landslide. I call up Sam to collect on my bet. His wife answers and tells me Sam has been in bed for the past two days. Okay, I figured he needs some time to recover so I wait another week. Same story. His wife tells me that Sam is still confined to his bed. Then I forgot all about it until early January and call again. His wife answers and hesitatingly tells me that Sam is still sick and may be in that condition for a very long time. I never saw Sam again. So I am wondering if this will happen to the DUmmies if their Obamassiah loses in November. So severely shocked that they can never again function in public again. Picture Brian Wilson of the Beachboys lying in bed and staring at the ceiling for most of the 80s. With that in mind, let us now watch the DUmmies hit the panic button in Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, advising the DUmmies to get themselves emergency bed pans, is in the [barackets]:

So Far, Obama's Campaign Has Been Dukakis-esque

[Dukakis got into a tank and Obama's poll numbers have tanked.]

The Obama campaign has been a major, major disappointment. They have allowed this campaign to be about Obama instead of the 8 years of miserable failure of the Bush admin. No mention of the horrible economy. No mention of the lying to get us into war. No mention of the Katrina incompetence. Instead, it's been all oil drilling and celebrity.

[May I console you with some Freudenschade victory champagne?]

Now, you can stick your heads in the sand all you want, but the Obama campaign right now is losing this election because it's been weak and ineffective against McCain. No amount of donations nor volunteer work can overcome a lackluster candidate and campaign. It's up to Obama and his campaign to make the case to the American people on why he should be president, not some door to door canvasser.

[Perhaps you can write up some daring new lines for Obama's teleprompter.]

Hillary was a deeply flawed candidate, but at least she knows how to fight. So far, this campaign is nothting more than a replay of Dukakis'88 and Kerry '04.

[Why am I now picturing a floor fight with Hillary in a couple of weeks? Now to the other DUmmies...]

They are losing the election because one poll says they are?

[No. Several polls now say the Lightworker is losing.]

Obama has a handsome lead which, translated to an election, would equate to an electoral landslide. People latch onto the odd tied poll or narrow Obama lead when, in reality, Obama has generally (on average) had a consistent 4-5% lead.

[Auditioning for a job as Baghdad Bob?]

Real Clear Politics has him with a 1% lead when averaging all the polls.

[Yeah. Average in the polls of a few weeks ago with the current polls and Obama has a very slight lead. Comfy now?]

Have you actually watched any of Obama's speeches?

[Yes, during insomnia attacks.]

Perhaps you are not familiar with the ads Obama has been playing as well as the speeches he has been giving...

[Plus Obama has a well-oiled teleprompter.]

The fact is his lead has been shrinking on a daily basis because people are paying attention to McCain's aggressive, negative campaigning. And if anyone hasn't been paying attention, it's the Obama campaign.

[Don't worry. John Kerry has their back.]

If he doesn't hit back hard and fast beginning in Sept he could very well end up like a Kerry or Dukakis. Watch for the media to start asking "will going negative hurt Obama?"

[DUkakis, Kerry, Obama. The Democrat troika of failure.]

Good heavens. There's really no need for panic at this point.

[Oh yes there is.]

There's plenty of time left and I have full confidence in the strategic plan of Obama's campaign.

[I BEEEEELEEEEEVE!!! This poll plunge is all part of a grand strategic plan.]

Don't panic.. Donate more; volunteer more, though.

[Eat more pizza.]

Happened all the way through the primaries, too. Then Obama would outperform the pre-primary polls and everybody would go nuts.

[Oh yes. I remember how Obama did so much better in California than the landlslide he was supposed to win by.]

Dukakis tried to sell himself as a more competent manager. "THis election isn't about ideology; it's about competence." Silly thought. Truly Silly thought, as if running for president was just a bigger version of running for city manager or something.

[Didn't Dukakis take a copy of Swedish Land Management book or something like that with him on vacation in 1988?]

I Refuse To Let The MSM or Polls Scare Me

[Bury your head in the sand to keep out that nasty reality.]

this campaign is going downhill fast. I really thought with the people Obama had in place this year was going to be different, perhaps I was wrong.

[Yup! You were wrong.]

The facts are the facts. At the moment, Obama is losing this campaign.

[While the DUmmies are losing their minds.]

If you cannot see that Obama is pissing away this campaign, then you're in for a nasty lesson in politics.

[Said the pissed off DUmmie.]

Obama will knock the VP choice out of the park.

[Yeah, Evan Bayh would really excite us all. (Yawn.)]

I can't believe it's happening to us again!!!! Running against the most unpopular president/party in the last century and against a candidate who's weak spots are absolutely legendary, Obama continues to play the role of the gentile, ephemeral punching bag that Dukakis immortalized. McCain goes nasty and vicious, and Obama counters with rosy platitudes. McCain basically calls Obama a traitor in his speech at the VFW and Obama comes in the next day to counter - his response?

[Obama plays the role of a gentile? Perhaps that is to counter those ugly Muslim rumors about him.]

"Nah nah nah that's not fair - In wouldn't say that about you and I HOPE you won't say it about me". When in the name of God are we ever going to get even a semblance of a spine?????!!!!! As one who supported Obama from the very earliest stages of his campain, I have to say that I really wish our nominee was Hillary. Say what you will about her, at the least she would be tearing McSame a new one daily. The polls don't lie, as much as we won't to use wishful thinking about their results - Obama has gone from a pretty commanding lead to a 5 point defecit as of today's Reuters poll. The Rethug negative ads and campaign focusing everything on Obama are working, and he seems powerless to understand and/or do anything about it. I hope events prove me wrong, but I'm really beginning to believe that we will have another 4 ot 8 years to sit and bitch about another Rethug presidency unless Obama does something drastic and fast!

[I love to watch DUmmies implode!!!]

Do you remember the Dukakis campaign? Remember his little head sticking out of a tank? Contrast that to the rock star photos of Obama everywhere.

[The Obama campaign needs to print out more posters of Obama assuming a Che Guevara pose.]

Keep up the happy talk, if you want, but I've been through far too many losing dem presidential campaigns to feel in any way happy about what's going on.

[Happy talk, keep talkin' happy talk,
Talk about things you'd like to do.
You got to have a dream,
If you don't have a dream,
How you gonna have a dream come true?]

Let's ignore the polls. Let's all stick our heads in the sand while McCain is tearing us up on a daily basis. Yeah, that works. Just ask President Dukakis and President Kerry.

[Talk about the moon floatin' in the sky
Lookin' at a lily on the lake;
Talk about a bird learnin' how to fly.
Makin' all the music he can make.]

You're right on target. Obama's gone "Kerry and Dukakis" on us. And he said that wasn't going to happen this time. He said he knew what was coming and he would stuff it back in their faces. He hasn't done it.

[Happy talk, keep talkin' happy talk,
Talk about things you'd like to do.
You got to have a dream,
If you don't have a dream,
How you gonna have a dream come true?]

Didn't seem like Kerry's was going as badly as Obama's is right now... Here's crossing my fingers Obama's campaign can get a shot of energy.

[Talk about the sparrow lookin' like a toy
Pickin' through the broaches of a tree;
Talk about the girl, talk about the boy
Countin' all the ripples on the sea.]

He damn well SHOULD be up by 20 points. Why the hell isn't he?

[Happy talk, keep talkin' happy talk,
Talk about things you'd like to do.
You got to have a dream,
If you don't have a dream
How you gonna have a dream come true?]

In defense of the OP it's not trolling. It's genuine concern that we can lose this election. Trolling? Please.

[Talk about the boy sayin' to the girl:
"Golly, baby, I'm a lucky cuss."
Talk about the girl sayin' to the boy:
"You an' me is lucky to be us!"]

After believing that there was NO WAY Obama would make the same mistakes as Kerry in 2004, here we go. McCain now has Bush advisers who know how to run an effective, aggressive and mean spirited campaign. Obama is not hitting back soon enough and hard enough.

[Happy talk, keep talkin' happy talk,
Talk about things you'd like to do.
You got to have a dream,
If you don't have a dream
How you gonna have a dream come true?]

What we need to do is bombard Obama's handlers with emails telling them that we are in danger of losing this election and that they need to admit that there are problems and FIX them. Right now Obama's campaign staff is so busy congratulating themselves on a daily basis about how "disciplined" they are that they can't see the forest for the trees.

[If you don't talk happy,
And you never have dream,
Then you'll never have a dream come true!]

Come down Obama will get mid evil on McCain's old ass after the convention.

[That would make Ben Burch's (tombstoned) dream come true.]

I think the majority of these people must be dependent—and they want to depend on us—the people they affectionately call repugs, fundies, etc. They’re mighty hateful to their host.
Kind of makes me want to tell them all to STFU and get out of my way.

it's been all oil drilling and celebrity.

Because when gas hits 4 bucks a gallon, you need more drilling.

As for Paris and Britney, there's been lots of exploratory drilling there but the oil deposits have proven marginal.

Wow! You’ve got a lot of material here! This seems to have more DUcontent that the others of late memory.

All this is occuring despite the plethora of free campaign advertising provided by the networks. Perhaps the Constitutional Scholar should start citing the Constitution, but that would dissolve his base for sure.

This is as funny as record low tempratures everytime Al Gore shows up to deliver a speech on global warming.

It’s finally hitting them that Obama can’t win, and they are in a tizzy. At KOS, anything that isn’t Groupthink is severly punished, so they are all so surprised that this could have happened to “THE ONE!”...

But it may be happening too frikkin' early. Is it better for this sort of thing to happen before he gets the nomination (possibly giving Hillary! the rationale she thinks she needs to seize it away from him), or after he has the nomination (which would be incredibly hard to revoke)?

I think the answer boils down to reaction within the Dem Party, and specifically the Black demographic, if Hillary! ends up getting the nom. Despite the conventional wisdom that there would be city-burning riots if Obama is denied what is seen as rightfully is, it actually happening is very much a wildcard. I think it's preferable for McCain to go up against a weakened Obama than Hillary!

Not likely to see much considering you're in Colleyforrnia. Here in battlefield Ohio McCain ads are all over the Olympics and other high-viewer programs. I remember Bush '92 and Dole '96 real well. McCain is no Bob Dole (and Obama is no Billyboy Clinton).

I have a fishing buddy who is a nominal democrat. He announced one misty morning that he will not vote for Obambi.

I asked him why and he just looked at me and said, “not ready for prime time...”

Upon further conversation, he did not like the fact that Obamarama went to Germany and apologized for the US. That kind of stupid crap irritates even nominal, non-involved democrat voters.

I bought him a beer.
