Peplum is back (Victorian era clothing is in)

Giorgio Armani, Etro, MaxAzria, Preen F/W 08

It was obvious at the Fall/Winter fashion shows that peplum was trendy once more, as well as a ladylike attitude towards fall styles. The echo of the Victorian era, when ladies wore peplum jackets with full long skirts, was very apparent at the Prada, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, YSL and Chanel shows.

Peplums like that are more ‘80s retro than victorian retro.

I remember when there were no extreme versions and Halloween was only once a year. ;)

I think what I appreciate about the show is that they try and usually succeed in breaking the person out of her comfort zone. In what I do for a living, I see people go from being depressed about how they are to being happy. As they move towards freedom and serenity, they often wear more color and have more form fitting clothing. So I guess it reinforces my own view of life.

Mine, too! I think it should be required watching for just about everyone. :)

I like it—has a retro-40s feel.

Once modified versions of that reach us here in fly-over country, I will probably like that look.

The models don’t look as healthy or happy as the female Olympians, I’ve noticed.

I think Victorian ladies would be spinning in their graves if they saw those ulgy modern day outfits associated with their era. When I saw the models and the clothes Victorian was the last thing I thought of. Sort of funny the picture I enjoyed most was the 19th century lithograph.

The one on the left has to be a pre-op tranny. The two on the right are just plain ugly, and the other chick’s face is obscured by that weird-ass hat.

No matter how ugly the clothes are, they would definitely look better on a healthy, athletic woman than these weak, scrawany, sickly, curve-less little walking clothes racks.
