It was obvious at the Fall/Winter fashion shows that peplum was trendy once more, as well as a ladylike attitude towards fall styles. The echo of the Victorian era, when ladies wore peplum jackets with full long skirts, was very apparent at the Prada, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, YSL and Chanel shows.

Guess they’re trying to cash in on the REN FAIRE crowd.
Went to the link. Ick. A lesson on “How to take a good idea and really screw it up”.
Yeah - put it on emaciated crack whores. Blech.
One of my favorite shows is “What Not to Wear.” Anyone else?
Actually, keeping in mind that this stuff is always extreme, at least there’s some modesty. Interesting.
Have you noticed that most clothing looks like it was designed by bagladies or the local street ho? Some of the designs aren’t bad but the weird colors/patterns and crazy shoes combined with how the “models” are madeup and “hairstyles” shows that fashion isn’t true fashion anymore. We used to watch it on TV just to laugh. LOL
Any chance of getting these girls to eat a cheeseburger and fries once a week?

I think the designers and photographers put this stuff together, and then sit around and snicker about how they’ve got a bunch of women to look like teenage boys with AIDS.
A very slight echo...I don’t think those look very Victorian, the Victorian era was more modest. I wear long bustle skirts with wingtip western boots and for fancier occasions, my lace-up western (”granny”) boots...it’s just my “signature style”.
I dislike the current trend in models but with what’s being “designed” it doesn’t matter. That crap would be a horror on any woman.
Considering that fashion designers and "experts" are overproportionally homosexuals one might think they have an actual appreciation for that look.
The jacket in the left-hand picture at the top of the thread isn’t bad, although it would have to be redesigned to be worn by a woman with a chest.
But you’re right - the “high-fashion” industry seems to be largely theater these days. Maybe it always was? I’ve been a thrift-store customer my whole life, and there’s always something okay out :-).
That was my point, yes.
One of mine is “Look Good Naked”. Watching women go from misery about their body shape to feeling amazing (with Carson Kressley’s help).
My favourite blouse came from a church thrift store.
I like that style. It can really flatter a woman’s figure. Especially when using a 1940’s style straight skirt under it. Very nice, sexy and classy. Better than belly shirts and low rider pants.
Those are the extreme versions. What will actually hit the mainstream stores are a little less , uh, exotic? But the basic pinched waiste style is back which is nice to me.
I’ve watched just a little here and there.I found most of their improvement suggestions almost as bad as the person was in beforehand, which is why I didn’t tune in again. Maybe not as bad, but not really attractive, either. But, as I said, I’ve not seen it enough to give a fair opinion.
So...umm...you’re really into fashion, huh?
