Yesterday, Republican House members unsuccessfully attempted to force congress from adjourning for their August recess. In a vote to prevent the House of Representatives from taking vacation, 17 Democrats joined every Republican in the house only to see the measure fail by 1 vote. Nancy Pelosi was able to retain just enough votes to allow Congress to go forward with their month long vacation and further prevent any legislation aimed at addressing our energy crisis...

...A little over a year ago, as Iraq's Parliament was preparing to go on vacation, congressional Democrats lambasted the Iraqi government and papers were plastered with stories of congressional outrage over the vacation. John Kerry attacked "An Iraqi Parliament that spends July and August sitting around a swimming pool while..."

...There is now only one option left to keep congress from going on vacation. The President has a Constitutional Power to force congress into a special session to address energy legislation. The President can help his own dismal approval numbers and lame-duck status, by taking charge and forcing congress to go back to work.

Help us end Congresses vacation by...

According to the media definition of lame duck it is the last two years of a President second term. President Bush for sure has not been a lame duck President in the last two years and that why we won the war Iraq despite a defeatist democrat Congress.

From a political perspective, me thinks the Dems shot themselves in the foot on this one.

The President needs to call a press conference and make an opening statement or address the nation from the oval office concerning our non energy energy policy. Put the ball in the Rats court. Please do it Mr. President!

“Nancy Pelosi was able to retain just enough votes to allow Congress to go forward with their month long vacation and further prevent any legislation aimed at addressing our energy crisis...”

Nancy, that is a great move!!!

Awesome job — you inability to pass any kind of meaningful legislation is testimony to your sheer ignorance of what is happening here in our (oooppppssss, my country).

Fortunately you have chosen to go on vacation, when the Dems from Red States return home without having voted on legislation to allow domestic drilling — they are going to get pummeled — and you will get the blame — I appreciate you taking one for your team.

You are safe, you are insulated in your ivory tower in san franciso where reality is elusive, but trust me, your Dem counterparts are going to get the liv’n S$#@ kicked out of them...so, don’t worry, take your vacation...

For those American’s that voted for change in 2006, when gas was $2.35 a gallon — they got change, with gas at $4.00 a gallon today (just two years of you being in charge)...we recognized we got “changed,” with no KY and little sand tossed in for good measure...

Great job clueless nancy...enjoy your vacation the fallout from this indecision will be as good as any Shakespeare play...
