A member of my staff spent far too much time locating a copy of Michelle (LaVaughn Robinson) Obama's 1985 college thesis, titled "Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community". The paper which is 217 typed pages (double-spaced) and contains 17, 524 words was definitely ...

COLLEGE thesis?

The parts of this I have read appear to have been written by an 8th grader - a not particularly LITERATE 8th grader.

I’ve noticed that a lot of the affirmative action babies who received free educations at prestigious universities are the most vocal in saying America stinks.

My take also. Speaking as a professional writer, I can’t even imagine how much work that a publishing industry copy-editor would have to put in on this document in order to make it fit for publication.

What blather.

Good God. Sure, I will read it, but after reading about five pages...this is the epitome of the college student spitting out words and phrases as if they were the revelation of the 10 Commandments.

What kind of thesis is THIS?

I had to work hard not to roll my eyes. I will read the whole thing later.

Yes. It’s a shame, isn’t it.

At the lowly “public university” which I attended, I would have received no better than a C- (plus or minus a plus or minus) for such poorly written drivel. But then again, I was attending their College of Engineering on MERIT, not because of some non-academic qualification-based quota that needed to be filled.

I encourage people to read it.

Here’s the link to the thesis. Definitely could have been written by an 8th grader. I wonder about the qualified white person who should have been admitted to Princeton in her place.

Princeton must employ a double standard when grading papers as well as in their college admissions. This is 8th grade work.

I already responded to a similar forum thread on Michelle Obama's Senior Thesis. She was raised in Chicago among the Democrat Party Ward Bosses and took her cue from them. Her thesis, though, is basically flawed, as is her ideology concerning "blackness" and "whiteness." It's not about color of skin or place of origin or ethnicity. It's about character, integrity, honesty, self-esteem, pride of accomplishment, sincerity, empathy. It's about WHO the person is on the inside, not the color or lack thereof of the skin.

Michelle Obama places the weight of her Thesis on "Blackness" when it could have better been placed on character virtues. I think she would have gotten a better understanding of who Princeton educated blacks are had she done so.

Yes.

Clearly, she never paid attention to the Rev. King’s message.

What an incredible load of horse puckey!! It reminds me of the effort I made to read Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” and had to give it up early on because it was just gibberish.

IF America screws up and inadvertently elects Obama to the presidency (shudder), we will have the first racist president and first lady EVER!!!! Michelle’s racism was firmly in place at Princeton as demonstrated by her “thesis”.

Having read about as much as I could stomach, I was astonished to discover that she was awarded a college degree for this drivel. There is nothing scholarly, informative, new, useful, or interesting about this “thesis” other than the fact she used the word “hypothesis” a few times (correctly, too, I noticed!!).

Had I known that a University with the reputation of Princeton accepted mediocre drivel such as this and awarded college degrees on the basis thereof, I would have applied to attend because I can certainly write that badly if I put my mind to it.

I also noticed that, like Nancy Pelosi’s book, Michelle Obama’s “thesis” was about me, me me and what life will hold for me as a graduate of Princeton. Did i mention that the “thesis” was about her?

Sheesh!!! Princeton should be embarrassed and revoke her degree!

Pretty bad.

I was taught that the 1st rule of writing papers like this, is to never, under any circumstances, use the first person. My senior thesis would have been torn apart, had I written it like this.

While I only skimmed the first couple of dozen pages, this reads more like a teenager's diary. Whatta bunch of uninspired navel gazing.

I think Mrs. BHO will be disappointed at some point in the future to learn that God does not consider Himself an “entity” that slots somewhere between “families” and “etc.”

And she used mighty wide margins... I am 140 pages into a manuscript, “No Fugitive Days: A Memoir or You’re Not the Center of Everyone’s Universe, Billy Ayers,” and have around 40,000 words. Heh.
The rant, the fun.
