I can understand Obama traveling to Iraq and Afghanistan to meet with the troops, talk to military leaders, a listen and learn trip so to speak, as the presumptive Democratic nominee and as Illinois Senator. Sure it is odd that he laid out his plans for Iraq and Afghanistan in an op-ed piece in the New York Times one week before he left, but I will not criticize him for that.
I also do not mind his traveling to Israel, our closest ally in the region, knowing full well that he must garnish more support from the Jewish community in America, who pay close attention to Israeli politics, to win the presidential election. I think it would be obvious that he would meet with Palestinian and Jordan leaders as well, in order to appear fair minded.
The problem I have with all these meetings however, is that he is acting as if he is President-elect. This could be part media fault part Obamas wishful thinking fault, but it is wrong nonetheless. We are a nation of voters, not slaves to the main stream media, and no one assumes presidency in this country, not even Obama.

The Messiah can do no wrong! Bow down to the New World Order!
Bow down my @ss!
While we can all hope that Obama's tour backfires on him; and while you're rightly distressed about Obama's antics; the fact is the body of your piece does not support your title.
All you really said is, the tour "backfired" on you (but then, for that to be true, we must suppose that you were at least on the fence about Obama in the first place.)
And, moreover, your comments essentially tell us that you're pissed about the fact that Obama's trip doesn't actually seem to have backfired yet for the general public, because the media are complicit in his beatification.
Bow down my @ss!
bears repeating
Wait until after Berlin to make a judgment. Right now, on balance, it has been a plus for Obama. The big media event will be the tens of thousands of Germans cheering him on. It will be a powerful photo op if all goes as planned.
Yeah kind of like Gobbels producing photo ops for Hitler!
You have a point. I am terrible at titles. Do you have a suggestion?
But do Americans really care if Germans like Obama. It is just so strange to me. Did the German chancellor travel to American to campaign?
Bingo. You get it. You deserve a good cigar.
I know...it’s absurd at best and insulting at worst!
If that happens, perhaps some video of thousands of Germans cheering Hitler in the late 1930’s might be in order for a comparison.
Maybe it hasn’t backfired yet, but it will for sure. Obama is so ignorant and inexperienced that it’s inevitible he will make a Huge Gaffe that will end any chance of him winning the presidency.
Not sure about this particular trip ... but I do believe a lot of this Obama-mania in general has the potential to backfire in the end.
The fawning press coverage. The European adulation of Obama. Moving the convention acceptance speech to a stadium, rock-star style.
I think a lot of this will start to rub a lot of Americans ... not just us conservative political junkies ... the wrong way.
With all due respect, I think the point that many are missing is the fact the we are in the dog days of summer, the only people following Obama’s magical mystery tour are the MSM and the few of us who are really into politcs all the time. Most people know he’s over there, but most people don’t give a sh*t, they care about the price of gas and groceries, the WOT and their vacations. The MSM can fall all over themselves during the evening news and later on cable, but tonight most of us will be watching MLB games or one of the CSI programs.
Can you recommend one? I have been known to smoke a good cigar from time to time.
Very well said.
I don’t know, ‘cause I don’t like cigars. I’ll ask my BIL. He likes $150 cigars.
Good point. Obama’s Magical Carpet Ride is under the guise of a Senate trip, while he’s really campaigning the whole time. He should have to pay for all of it out of his campaign funds. It makes me spitting mad that we taxpayers are funding it.
A little high priced for me!
