Iraq Speech Lacks Substance
Political Commentary ^ | July 15, 2008 | Raquel Okyay

Obama’s speech on the war in Iraq and national security this morning in Washington D.C. is no strategy at all; it is the same stale mantra of useless promises based on disputed facts. “I was right all along” Obama proclaimed. “We never should have went into Iraq” because “Iraq had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks”. This argument might have held some water during the 2004 presidential election, but the year is 2008, and a lot has happened since then.

Obama continues to support an abrupt withdrawal of American troops in Iraq regardless of the conditions on the ground.

Obama’s hawkish position toward Afghanistan is a change from his anti war stance in Iraq.

In an Obama Administration with a Democrat congress, both Iraq and Afghanistan are toast. Negotiations will lose both countries to the Islamists. His advisers have said that the Taliban "has a legitimate place in the Afghan government".

If he doesn't pull out of Iraq with a settlement negotiated with the neighbors (read Iran), his own party will fry his uh . . . well that part of his body Jesse is so fond of.

“We never should have went into Iraq”
is this bad grammar to avoid being labeled as acting white? or like Kerry and his “is this where I get me one of them hunting license?”

Obama is such a bad candidate for the Democrats, even Hillary is starting to look good...

I still don't think Obama can win this election. He's too naive and inexperienced! He's going to get us all killed!
