President Obama’s First War?

Cindy Sheehan and Code Pink may be surprised to learn that Barak Hussein Obama has surrounded himself with foreign policy advisors that want the United States Military to preemptively attack a sovereign nation.

Wesley Clark, a widely-touted prospect to be Obama’s VP, has publicly called for 5000 American troops to be sent to Darfur in Sudan. Anthony Lake, Secretary of State prospect, and Susan E. Rice, candidate for National Security Advisor, have called not only for the insertion of American troops preemptively, but insist it should be done unilaterally if necessary.

The three are ex-Clintonistas who were instrumental in developing the “Clinton Doctrine”. The doctrine states that the United States will attack other countries in an effort to help an oppressed minority escape persecution, ethnic cleansing, or genocide. They brought you the Haiti and Somalia debacles, and the Kosovo quagmire. (We still have troops in Kosovo nine years after arriving).

Obama has claimed that his Kenyan background and living in Indonesia informs his foreign policy. Kenya is bordered on the east by Somalia and on the west by Sudan.

Obama has co-sponsored six pieces of Darfur-related legislation including the “Civilian Protection Resolution: Senate Resolution 383.” The resolution called for sending NATO troops to the Sudan. He has been given an “A+” rating by DarfurScores.org for his pro-intervention position on Darfur.

Joe Biden, another likely VP candidate, is also a Darfur hawk. In March of 2005, Biden introduced and the Senate passed S. Con. Res. 17 urging the president to immediately direct the U.S. permanent representative to NATO to propose that NATO assess and report to members on the potential effectiveness of and requirements for a NATO enforced no fly zone in Darfur. Biden sent a letter to the president the same day asking him to do the same.

Obama claims that his African roots were important in the formation of his foreign policy. He has selected a foreign policy team that advocates preemptive, unilateral insertion of troops into Sudan to fight against the government troops and militias on behalf of the other combatants in a sectarian civil war.

Regardless of your position on Darfur, it cannot be argued that Sudan is a threat to the United States or our allies. Like Somalia, our troops will be fighting a fanatical Muslim militia with a desire to die for Allah. There are almost no strategic targets for Wesley Clark to bomb from 15,000 feet. His 5000 troops will have to go in. They volunteered to defend America and its interests, but will fight and die to protect the consciences of liberal politicians and policy makers instead. What will Cindy Sheehan and Code Pink do about it?

The people who said we would cause chaos in the Muslim world by invading Iraq are now telling us we should invade the Muslim-governed nation of Sudan?

I don’t see how we avoid it if Obama is elected.

If they think Iraq is a lost cause, WAIT UNTIL THEY GET A LOAD OF DARFUR.

If they think that we've jumped the shark by nation building in Iraq, I just have this to say. Iraq couldn't be a skin eruption on Darfur’s derriere.

Deploying troops to Darfur and Zimbabwe. What will this do for “stop loss” and the “lack of translators” in Afghanistan (both are issues Obama has criticized Bush over the Iraq War)?

Code Pink Logic: Disband all armies, then there will be peace.

Disband all police departments, and then will end crime.

Disband all fire departments, and that will end all fires.

Anything new?

Scumbag Clinton illegally attacked Yugoslavia setting up an Islamic state in Europe, idiot GW Bush continued this insane policy supporting illegal Islamic Kosovo, idiot GW Bush started war with Iraq, while our real enemy has been Iran since impotent Carter,s hostage crisis.

Obama has not done anything wrong yet in this matter yet.

LOL

Not that I am his supporter, but he is going to be the next POTUS whether we like it or not thanks to G Bush - Clinton -GW Bush dynasty which governed for the last 20 years and put this great country into downward death spiral with no end in sight.

The whole thing puts a lie to their criticism of the iraq war.

Does Darfur have WMDs?
Was Darfur involved with 9/11?
We have to build international consensus?
We have to work within the UN?
You can’t use the military to solve a political problem?
We shouldn’t get involved in a civil war?

Obama wants the US army to fight in Darfur.
I have to question: On who’s side?

“The people who said we would cause chaos in the Muslim world by invading Iraq are now telling us we should invade the Muslim-governed nation of Sudan?”

Yes. And since we don’t have oil ties to Sudan, this would be a truly altruistic endeavor (and even moreso if Obama annoints it.) That one point alone will ostensibly erase all the hypocrisies.
