You know, I hate to say this after a week of participating on these threads, but I'm beginning to think I see an embossment on the Obama document. Check out the following:

1) on the animated GIF at the first link in post 13, I'd swear that I can see a faint round impression to the left of the one on the DeCosta certificate. It's most noticable in the in-between state between the two GIFs.

2) With that in mind, look at the extreme blow up on this post, especially in the area to the right of the Father's Name and above the reverse date stamp. Do you see horizontal lines along the vertical background pattern in the area where the faint embossment appears in the animation? Do those lines appear to form a circular pattern going up and to the left?

Is it just me? Have I been staring at these for two long or is there really something there?

Thanks for pointing that out. When I looked at the “B” and compared with the “S” in Laser they do look slightly different though. It’s very hard to tell.

The DailyKos version of the Obama BC is what I studied...
There is 2 fold creases in the DailyKos cert.
The top one is pointed out in this copy of the Dailykos photo.
Use it as a guide to find the crease on the DailyKos version.
The top one can be seen fairly well if you look for it in DailyKos version

The second crease is very hard to see...
You need to save the dailykos version of the BC on your computer and
zoom in on the area just above Obama's fathers name.
The crease shows up more in the BC border just to the left
and just above Obama's father's name.
(the rest of the crease is in the first "horizontal" green hatch
mark above Obama's father's name)
- It is very faint but it is there.

You can see darker ripple marks in the green hatch marks.
The green hatch marks above the Jun 6 2007 seems
to be broke up and you can make out a partial circle pattern
in the break up of the green hatch marks.

Simply put it is a light embossed seal.
Pay attention to how broke up looking the green hatches look above the Jun 6 2007 date
and how complete they look outside this area.)

Buckhead is right. I might also mention that, beginning with the 24th byte in a JPG file, one can embed information hidden from view...except, of course in a text editor, or better still, a hex editor.

For example, I have a JPG of an old map. Looking inside the file, I found the author or copyright owner of the image, "Lead Technologies, Inc."

Yes, I did open the image in a hex editor, and I did see the information regarding Adobe Photoshop CS3, Mac OS 2.0, and the date stamp of the photo, all beginning at byte#144.

I also took a look inside the JPG posted on Obama's "Smears" website. Beginning with byte #24, I see the word, "Ducky," who I assume is the author of this altered file. And, yes, I see, the word, "Adobe," beginning at byte#43, but I do not see what identifies which version of Photoshop was used.

HOWEVER...

Looking earlier inside the Kos image, beginning with byte #24, You can see the word, "Exif," the Exif image format supported by almost all digital cameras!

What typically follows, "Exif," is the information about the shutter speed, flash condition, focal length, and other image information included in the photo image.

WTF? The Daily Kos image was pulled from a digital camera file, modified in Photoshop CS3 running under Mac OS 2.0, and subsequently saved on June 12, 2008 at 8:42am!

Stay tuned. I'm going to analyze thse with my EXIF Reader.

Wait for all the pictures to load.

Study the green hatch marks above and slightly to the above right of the Jun 6 2007 date

You will see some of the green hatch marks have tiny little horizontal black marks (ripples) in them. You can see a curve of a circle by looking at the pattern of these black marks in the the green hatches. (pull you face away from the screen on your monitor)

You may need to save the image on your computer and zoom in on the area to see them better, but they are there and do form a partial circle. It looks like a very light embossed pattern of a seal.
