Bo (woof) In Product Review:

Kong-every dog knows what it is. It’s the iPod for the canine set. But is it really all it’s cracked up to be? Well read this review and find out.

How did the greatest invention in canine treat history, The Kong, come about? Well, it begins with a German Sheppard named Fritz, his owner and a Volkswagen Van.

Fritz, a police dog, enjoyed chewing rocks to relieve the stress of the day. This activity wore Fritz’s teeth down, frustrating his owner Joe Markham as well as his dentist, Dr. Christian Szel

One afternoon while working on his Volkswagen Van, Joe noticed Fritz dining on rocks once again. It had been a particularly harrowing day of capturing criminals and Fritz was taking it out on a tasty piece of basalt. Out of desperation, Joe began disassembling the van he was working on and threw parts near Fritz to see if he could be coaxed away from his destructive dinner.

Radiator hoses didn’t work - neither did anything else until he pulled off (con't @ http://boknowsonline.com/2007/10/13/kong-red-rubbery-and-filled-with-goodness/)

My brother and I's dog, goes absolutely ballistic for the Kong bone. If you open up a jar of peanut butter or yell “Kong” Murphy (the dog) will run in place like Scooby Doo for about 3 seconds and then head in what ever direction he last put his Kong bone. He frequently slides on the tile right into a wall. It's funny and scary at the same time; the dog has an addiction.

It’s Bo’s favorite treat, although he is pretty fond of Frosty Paws PB ice cream too. If you’ve never tried it look for it in the ice cream section of your grocery store. It is very funny watching him eat it.

Hmmm my girls LOVE Frosty Paws, and they ARE entertaining to watch as they daintily eat their ice cream!

I'll get some this weekend, thanks for the tip. I am sure Murphy will enjoy it, the dog eats anything. Sticks, lizards, bark (literally off the tree), dirt, whats really funny is he will be walking along see a bug and just lower his head, stick out his tongue and lap it up without missing a step. It's like a canine vacuum cleaner. Also he gets so excited a breakfast and dinner time that he doesn't even chew his food, just swallows it.

He's a 58 lb chocolate lab, very small/short for his breed (he was the runt of the litter) but the vet says he is healthy and in great shape (he gets a lot of play time) but he has a bottomless pit for a stomach. You know if Murphy is not feeling well if he is not laying in front of my bedroom door at 6:00am or sitting at his bowl 6:00pm.

Foster’s & Smith sells a Kong dispenser- I think it holds about 4 Kongs, and spits them out at pre-determined times- Good if you’re out most of the day. Rocky the wonder Lab likes his Kong filled with PB or beggin’ strips, and then frozen, especially in the summer!

Post a picture if you have one. Also, perhaps Murphy would like to Ask Bo about his endless stomach, or anything else. Just go to the Ask Bo section and you can leave a question. Of course, Bo’s wisdom is due to his 103 years on earth, no actual degree, so you may need a second opinion.

I really like the frozen idea it is especially useful in this Houston heat, I will try it this weekend too. I think a Kong dispenser would either give Murphy a brain aneurysm or he would dislocate his jaw trying to fit all the Kongs in his month at one time.

I will get a good pic this weekend. I thought the vacuum cleaning thing would fade but he just turned 4 and has shown no signs of growing/letting up. Maybe Bo could give him some good advice, but knowing Murph he will politely listen, dust the floor (wagging his tail at light speed) and then run to the next room and grab his Kong bone or Kong ball thinking its time to play and forget we just had a conversation 5 seconds earlier.

Sorry it took so long to respond to you Murphy, but I am 103 years old with a touch of doggie Alzheimer’s. Anyway, go check out www.boknowsonline.com under “Ask Bo” and you will see my response. Hope it helps. Woof!
