I’m not real up on Colorado politics, but I’m a little surprised it’s in the solidly-blue category. I always thought it leaned GOP?

Recent influx of Kalifornians has shifted the state. Both houses and the gov are DEMs.

“I’m a little surprised it’s in the solidly-blue category (Colorado)”

Yeah, I was a little surprised by this. Per the previous post; I kinda think NH loves McCain and I think that would go his way. i have serious doubts that VA and NM go red this year.

Of course, who knows what could happen once the debate season opens up between McCain and Obama? Lots of stuff could move around. The press seems to cover for all of Barry and Michelle’s fab gaffes and quotes.

It’ll be hard to do that with just 2 in the race. Then of course, we can also expect the press to be dragging out McCain’s marital infidelity and Keating 5, as well.

Oh yeah, they get that in NM, too.

The stuff gets too deep in their own liberal litterboxes, so they hitch up their poor political hygiene and move it along to a new state, where they pollute that environment, as well.

I have goats that behave like this, too.

Of course, they’re goats.

Wow, things are shaping up nicely for McCain. Obama doesn't have a chance in the South. Virginia will vote for a Rat eventually but not for another cycle or two before Northern Virginia finally become dominant in the state.

Looks like Colorado turned to the Dark Side permanently thanks to Californian refugees.

Both houses and the gov are DEMs.

As I once overheard during a Wyoming/Colorado State football game "Go hunt in your own damn state!" ;)

But maybe I'm not as convinced that CO's that blue. Is it to the point now where Boulder, Denver, and the lib enclave ski resort towns (Aspen, Vail, etc.) are running the state the way Chicago and Cook Co. runs Illinois?

I've never been to Colorado so I'm the wrong person to ask. But apparently yes, you're right.

Don't forget starting in the '90s, up to 100,000 Californians were leaving the state each year. They fled mostly to Oregon, Washington State, Arizona and of course Colorado.

Many urban liberals , who messed up their former state, have moved to Colorado. They ( like Jeff Hawn and friends ) ignore and defy our tradtional laws.

Plus the many illegals...

Second, special interest money from political activists like Jon and Patricia Stryker ( siblings ) are known for giving millions of dollars to Democratic causes in Michigan and now Colorado. The Gill Foundation is the nation’s largest funder focusing primarily on lesbian, ... works with Soros, Media Matters, and other left wing groups.

But we are pushing back some.

Colorado for Equal Rights, led by 20-year-old Kristi Burton is one example.

Ritter has been making a mess and the unions may motivate the independents to join us.

The main problem still is that we are often out spent. For example, Bob Schaffer needs more money.

It is not quite that bad yet but rapidly getting there. For example, we have the tax payer's bill of rights (known as TABOR) in our constitution. It was put in during a republican administration and the DEMs are doing just about everything they can to get around it.

In fact, the Gov decided to “freeze” the tax rates for property at the height of the market. This was in effect a tax increase because the law said that taxes should have gone down. A recent decision by a Colorado state judge stated that was the same as a tax increase and Tabor says that tax increases require voter approval.

Gov has appealed to the State Supreme court which is stacked 7 to 2 in favor of the Dems.

I remember that, albeit vaguely. Was the TABOR passed during Bill Owens' teunre as Gov? Seemed like it was only a few years ago.

Gov has appealed to the State Supreme court which is stacked 7 to 2 in favor of the Dems.

Now, this is something I may have to research, but I'm curious how many of the CO Supreme Court justices were appointed when Roy Romer was governor? Are voters allowed to vote on SC justices as they are in other states (my home state of Idaho being one of them)?

Sorry I made a typo. The court has 7 justices 5 dem (I believe Romer) appointed, 2 republican (Owens) appointed. Take all of that with a grain of salt cause it is late and those numbers are off the top of my head. Term is for 10 years, at which time voters can vote to retain or not. If retained, another 10 years.
