UNCLASSIFIED//FOUO//LES DAILY ANTI-TERRORISM/FORCE PROTECTION SUMMARY 20MAY08
(U//FOUO) Military Members Verbally Assaulted on the Metro, VA Category(s): Awareness (U//FOUO)
Recently, there have been local incidents in which military personnel have been verbally assaulted while commuting on the Metro. Uniformed members have been approached by individuals expressing themselves as anti-government, shouting anti-war sentiments, and usingracial slurs against minorities. In one instance, a member was followed onto the platform by an individual who continued to berate her as she exited the metro station.
Thus far, these incidents have occurred in the vicinity of the Reagan National Airport and Eisenhower Ave metrostations on the yellow line, however, military members should bevigilant and aware of their surroundings at all times while in masstransit. Should you be approached by any individuals expressing anti-government/anti-war sentiments, or any other types of direct verbal assault, immediately notify your local police jurisdiction. If riding metro, exit the train at the next stop, distance yourself from the individual, and notify the Metro Transit Police Department.
Here are a few friendly reminders of personal protective measures that can help youto stay safe: If possible, do not commute in uniform (military members.) Do not display DoD building passes, "hot cards", or personalidentification in open view outside of the workplace. Do not discuss specifics about your occupation to outside solicitors. Always try to remain in well lit, well populated train cars if traveling via metro. MDNG FPTAC Note: There have been only two reported incidents to theMetro Transit Police Department. Both appeared to be random in nature. As warm weather approaches, anti-US policy activists are more likely tobe active throughout the National Capital Region. This does not appearto be an organized campaign; however, personnel within the National Capital Region should be aware of proper AT/FP measures.
Let them carrry a side arm and allow ‘em to shoot the bastards dead.
They followed the girl. That’s real brave.
Time to rent a military uniform and get a hair cut to match and take a ride, eh?
Insane.
Travel in pairs, and carry a small digital video camera to record any incident. Show the attacks via Youtube and the blogs. Place the ownership for these whackos where it belongs- the libs. Make it backfire on them.
Sorry, but I hope nobody follows that kind of sell-out advice.
Now I suddenly want to ride the Metro and see if I get a chance to tell off these little a-holes...I’m not in the military myself but have friends who are...
I’m thinking most of our men and women in our great armed forces have enough hand to hand experience to deal with these losers, they just choose the upper ground.
I ride the yellow line everyday and change at work. I quit wearing my uniform after a crazy lady went off on me about a year ago.
I do occasionally wear my uniform, but haven't had any more problems. If I did witness something like this, I'd take action.
Camera running, ask one simple question - “who’d you vote for in the last election?”
Source on this document?
I don’t live in the DC area, far from it.
I wonder how many of us might decide they want to look for such despicable actions...and then offer a painful lesson in true patriotism, even at the risk of jail time?
I would.
I do not advocate any violence, but at some point maybe leather clad Harley Riding Vietnam Vets may start riding these subways. But before they do, maybe these new hippie-pukes ought to google the “Hard-Hat Rebellion” that happened during Nixon’s time......
If this happens again, we need to have other citizens stand up for the military who is being abused! It is PAST time for real Americans to stand up to these communist rats and protect our protectors!
Lord in heaven help the rat that would try this kind of crap with me around.
...this has been run once or twice already- sounds shaky...except for some of my comrades in the VFW who experienced this in the late 60’s/70’s, I haven’t come across anyone who’s been disparaged...sadly, to the contrary, folks seem ambivalent to the war...
That is just wrong in so many ways.
