"The Change I Wish To Be"

I received this reply to my post: McCain for President; Obama for GQ Model.

I will be proudly voting for the candidate who inspires me to be the change I wish to be.

This was written by someone who announced they were an “Obama Republican” who posts on FreeRepublic.

A few thoughts on this brief reply.

“….inspires me to be the change…”? Change is not something you are, it’s a process. It a verb, not a noun. But it’s all of a piece with all of the other vacuous, meaningless slogans that come from the Obama camp like “We are the people we have been looking for” or “change we can believe in.”

On the Obama campaign website the headline says

“I’m asking you to believe…not just about my ability to bring about real change in Washington … I’m asking you to believe in yours.”

What does this mean? Really, what does this bit of sophomoric sloganeering mean?

Obama's Translation: "I'm asking you to trust me as I turn the USA into a socialist nation. I'm asking you to throw your conservative (or common-sense) ideology with an honest work ethic out the window and join my campaign of communism where you turn your body, soul, and mind over to the government and let us decide what you need, when you need it, and how much you need - let us take care of you" [scary]

... and there's definitely no such thing as an "Obama Republican" -- or an "Obama Freeper" for that matter!

Good one! It's awesome how scripture has an answer to absolutely everything!

My preference is NASB, as you've quoted here, but I also checked NIV to see if that translation used the word "change" as well, and it was "rebellion" instead - still works doesn't it! =) ... Though in this age conservatives are probably viewed as the rebells - though the intent here is rebellion to God and nonsensical ideologies.
