Dave, I also would rather it been someone else running on the Republican ticket. But it ain’t that way. A person with a more conservative record would have been my ideal. However John McCain is the man now and unless you wish to watch our country go down the drain, vote for him.

You missed one thing that they do:

The record the name and address of anyone who sends them real money and puts that name on the political sucker list which they sell to anyone who will pay to get it.

Did you ever wonder why, after making a contribution, you are flooded with mail and phone calls asking for more?

Have you noticed all the new signups shilling for McCain?

You don't suppose they're here on behalf of McInsane's campaign, do you? Naaaah

You have every right to send your letter to the RNC, David Osborne. That First Amendment right is one of the many freedoms that John McCain fought to preserve. The fact is, though, that the RNC didn’t nominate John McCain as the GOP presidential candidate; the majority of the GOP primary voters did. If you feel comfortable about helping to put Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton into the Oval Office, then go for it. How much better it would have been, however, if you had put half the energy that you put into writing that letter into working for the nominee of your choice—unless, of course, that nominee is one of those two Democrats.

What YOU said.

Thank you for saying everything that was whirling around in my head as I was reading his ego-piece. You saved me the time it would've taken to get my thoughts together.

As for Osborne - he reminds me of the fly sitting on the hub of the chariot wheel who says: "Look. Look at all the dust I make!"

(Mr. O. The primary is over. The people voted. We have a candidate. We damn well better see he gets in. (I say "we", giving you the benefit of assuming you aren't really shilling for hitlery or obamama...which is sounds like.)

There are many of us who will not be voting for McCain. I surely don’t want Obama or Clinton to get elected, but I hope McCain gets his @$$ kicked.

You can't be too concerned about obama or clinton getting in - or you wouldn't sit back and help it happen

David put more effort than most I have seen into his support for Duncan Hunter (also my choice) last year.

He did this while working on the CPATT mission in Baghdad - the same one I'm on. I can vouch for the fact that the CPATT mission alone is extremely time-consuming and can be exhausting.

I wouldn't be so hasty in judging David's motivations and dedication.

I also don't think a U.S. soldier needs anyone's permission to exercise his First Amendment rights.

Well, we wasted our time and effort writing to them and all we got back were NEW letters BEGGING for money. So now...we put: REFUSED on the envelop in RED and it goes right back to them. We were PRO ACTIVE too but nothing did any good. Now we just ship the junk back to them. They may not respond but they sure as hell know they aren’t getting another dime from us and never will.

No, I am not too concerned who wins out of these three unacceptable candidates. I intend to keep living my life as always and wait for the next election.

I have voted a straight Republican ticket for the last 28yrs never missing a vote, primary or general. I have convinced many others to vote likewise. But now, I tell everyone who asks, I will not vote for McCain this election. I am amazed at the number of people who agree with me, on both sides of the aisle. This maybe the lowest voter turnout in history.

So you can sing the praises of McCain and berate me all you want. The GOP made this mess, they will have to live with it. Hopefully they will actually learn lessons but I wouldn't count on it.

If they are not, they should be. The elected Republicans have been spending so much time trying to hang on to their jobs that they neglected to do their jobs. I have to tell you, I am very disappointed in this party. They let us down, time and time again. Now, if we won’t vote for McCain, we are labeled haters. How liberal can they get?

To those who have accused me of shilling for McCain, shame on you. My husband is a major in the USAF, currently stationed in Turkey, on an unaccompanied tour. He, too, has served in war, in Afghanistan. My support for the GOP nominee is sincere and admittedly selfish. I know that Senator McCain will support the troops in every way he can. Senators Clinton and Obama, one of whom will be elected if my fellow Republicans continue to do all they can to destroy the candidacy of John McCain, (based for some on their anger that whichever candidate they were supporting failed to gain the nomination), will trash the military and will thus endanger the safety and the security not only of the United States, but also the world.

Withhold your funds; sit at home on election day; vote for a third party candidate who has no chance in blazes of winning the election—but whose candidacy can surely bolster the Democratic candidate’s choice. But please don’t feel superior to the majority of those who turned out in their states’ primaries to select a candidate—a candidate whose name is John McCain.

For the record: I worked in the local campaign office for Governor Mike Huckabee. I was devastated when he failed to clinch the nomination, but proud when he vowed to fully support the candidate chosen by the majority of the GOP primary voters, John McCain. One of the Democrats may win the election in November, but I refuse to help them win and I will do all I can to help Senator McCain win.

davidosborne provided much information about the Republican candidates in his posts over the last year. As a new member of Free Republic, I appreciate the time he took to provide information about Duncan Hunter to me, since I had no knowledge of the man prior to joining this site.

I probably don’t agree with david on every topic but know he’s been an asset to his candidate of choice, worked diligently during the primary, and is an honorable, conservative man in his personal life and career.

Goody for you. This is NOT, I repeat NOT, a GOP website. This is a conservative website, and a goodly number of people around here have exited the Republican party. We have no obligation to vote for a traitorous liar who was chosen by leftists and liberal “Republicans” before we even got a chance to vote.

If you McCainiacs try to turn this into a “Rah, rah, Sis-boom-bah! GO, McCain!” site, you’re going to get a nasty surprise. Bush was barely tolerable. McCain is NOT tolerable.

I wish I believed that McCain will support our troops. For the record, I haven’t decided how I will vote in November other than knowing I will not vote for (press the button)the dem nom.

As for Huckabee, I didn’t vote for him in our primary, nor did I vote for McCain. By the time our primary was held, most of the republican candidates had already dropped out.

Our Military survived Clinton. Our Military can and will survive anyone, imo. I know many former and active military who can’t stand McCain and they may or may not vote for him in November.

Your opinion of the letters being discarded is not my experience in my Representatives office. The amount of cash in the envelopes would make me question the advisability of using an agency or off site mail service.

I have spent hours as a volunteer opening the mail and compiling the responses for the staff to read. Yes, there are often results from this action.

I do not understand the RNC and their total lack of understanding. The level of anger by the Conservative base is completely underestimated.

My last response was not only NO, but HELL NO until you answer my concerns and explain why you spend my donations on such silly and useless polls as a ploy for donations.

I got no response! Using their post paid envelope did make me feel good for a moment. LOL

Yeah, I have. I wonder why all these have time to post, but no time to create and “about” page.
